I was 464 in the queue and only the 2oz silver was left. Happy to have bagged one as I have one silver 2oz of the whole series now.

What would be the ideal ‘fair launch’ ?

I think this way is the best way of launching it- judging by the content of the thread it’s a fair lottery…

So, my own return is not happening because I was very fortunate to get a replacement Quintuple from another member who has got some issues with his own set. He very kindly offered to complete my set in return for checking over his replacement when he is out of the country.
So I can share what I know of that as and when it happens.
What I can also say right now is that with any return the mint cannot really definitively tell anyone what the outcome will be until they get the coins back.
If you are going to return something I would highly recommend contacting the Royal Mint customer services team and confirming that you would like a REPLACEMENT or at very least your original coin back (unless it is a pile of dog poo) Otherwise there might be a chance that you will end up with a refund in due course.
I was told that if a coin was deemed to be way under the expected quality then they would look to remint these issues where possible - but the proof is in the pudding.
Stand up for your returns and keep insisting the Royal Mint get it right - that way we can actually make tangible progress with the mint QC rather than just mindless barking at one another on the internet.
Remember, if you speak to anyone at customer services or reply to emails, do so politely and respectfully - these people are there to help.

You know, the more I look at this coin design the more I love it.
It really is so very elegant and special.
I'm an investor in collectables....this will be a hard one to let go one day.

I had my money refunded which made me worried. Then my set was put into closed orders with a green dispatch as well. They tried to deliver it yesterday morning but I wasn't there to take it so it's waiting for me to pick it up at the post office when I'm back. Yours should be fine.... You'll have it by Friday I'd imagine. Hopefully sooner🤞

Oh man, the latest event in this nightmare adventure that's been going on since 14 October is just INCREDIBLE....
    To recap:
14 Oct: My "Year of the Pig" coin from the Trial of the Pyx turns out to be missing from its sealed brochure. After half an hour on the phone, I find it loose, wedged in the corner of the cardboard mailer envelope it arrived in, but there's still a tangible problem: The coin has been installed wrong-face-up in its tamper-evident packaging! 20 Oct: Yes, 6 days later, RM finally reply to my email to say they can't offer me a replacement so I can only return it for a refund. 20 Oct: I ask them to resolve it properly, i.e. by repackaging the coin. I'm disappointed that it arrived the wrong way round in the first place, let alone having to wait nearly a week for a response that doesn't actually solve the problem. 27 Oct: A full week later, I'm eventually told they can indeed repackage the coin. Yay! I return the coin using a supplied pre-paid label and mark it for the attention of an individual as instructed. 8 Nov: I get another email confirming that my coin has been received and passed onto the relevant department to be re-packaged and sent back to me. I was told I would get a confirmation email when it has been re-dispatched. And today:
22 Nov: The coin arrived out of the blue, with no email confirmation of dispatch. Guess what? It's still the wrong way up! Worse still, there is a distinctive mark on the tamper-evident packaging that matches the one on the detailed photos I took before returning it. This shows they haven't accidentally packaged it the wrong way up again, rather they have literally done nothing to it at all! They have just kept my coin for a few weeks and returned it in the exact same packaging it was in when I sent it to them. What should I do now?! This is so frustrating and it's taken up hours of my time and I am firmly back at square one again.

I see both sides of the flipper argument.
What I have never seen is anyone complaining about buying a coin below RRP on the secondary market

There’s always much talk after a hot release about those nasty ‘flippers’.
My take is this, none of us would have many coins in our collections/stack without buying from the secondary market.

Does it matter if someone chooses to sell 5 minutes after purchasing from the RM or 5, 10 or 50 years later?  I personally don’t think so.
I’ve bought from a ‘flipper’ and been satisfied with my purchase.  I am also an unashamed nasty ‘flipper’ occasionally- most recently flipping a hot Silver 5oz coin release for an inordinate amount of cash- and a satisfying profit- and in turn, I used that filthy profit to reinvest in a Gold historic Sovereign- that I will hold until it’s time to flip.
Perhaps we need to reframe and get away from the term ‘flipper’ as a derogatory term- and embrace the fact that coins can make profit 5 minutes after release- after all,  most people buy coins to enjoy but also to make money- perhaps opportunist is a better term- people taking an opportunity to make some cash.  My son did himself no harm recently by flipping a coin that helped him with a house purchase and get himself on the property ladder- is that a nasty thing to do?
I’m holding my 2022 Sovereigns and I will be enjoying them whilst I’m the custodian, but Inevitably  I will be flipping these, and all of my collection down the line- it’s part of my strategy for my old age pension pot- and ultimately the only reason I buy coins.

I’m sure there will be a few of these posts today but this honestly incredible up close. Better than the 02, 05 and 12 in my opinion. It rivals the 89 and 17 designs. Credit where credit is due, bravo Timothy Noad and the Royal Mint

Some dealers do, surely thats down to what sort of buyers you have coming to you and what your business model is?
personally if its a coin I'm after i’ll buy it slabbed or not if the price reflects the coins value to me, i’ll then slab it if its not as that's what I collect (which seems to be often forgot or not appreciated in these ‘debates’, once a coin is slabbed it doesn't mean it then enters a continous cycle of being sold and bought, it goes into collection like any other coin raw or not.)
The risk for someone who intends to sell after grading is always that if you dont get 70 on the modern coins then realistically (a few exceptions) there isnt a premium over whatever the raw price is. And worth noting that there are a lot of coins in 70 grade that dont sell for any more or less than their raw counterparts do as they simply aren’t widely sort after.
in terms of the 2022 sovereign, a 70 will get a premium over raw and a 69 is likely to sell at or slightly under raw.
I find the whole graded vs not graded discussion is now just used by some to incite arguments and divide the forum community with witless and arrogant comments. Its not hard really and even for the witless, surely they can appreciate and simply accept some might actually prefer their coins slabbed. Thats not directed at any dealer, but one or two individuals on here now who beat the same drum day after day, post after god awful post.
while im on, regarding the whole flipping debate, flip away I say and get what you can. If there is a buyer at the level you are asking then why not, its how everything works. Pretty sure those complaining about the flippers wouldn’t make the reverse argument if a coin is being offered to them below market rate.

Who cares what other people decide to do with their coins, there are a myriad of reasons why people grade them & other people buy them, you or anyone else arn't compelled to buy them.

You don’t want it too soon….
The warehouse pickers will have spent Monday celebrating, and recreating the tries, from the rugby win over Figi.  Sovereign boxes, especially the five coin sets, would have been spin passed into the packing area and Dai England tackled regularly as he carried various sets to the packing area.  That’ll ensure the mints quoter of PR68s is met.
Tuesday’s about nursing hangovers in the Principality whilst doing as little as possible.  Most boxes are thrown as it’s easier than walking with pounding heads.  This gives us the PR69s as Dai England is being thrown regular hospital passes by the Taffs.
Wednesday’s a good day in Llantrisant, the lads will be on fine form - sober, rested and reflective.  The warehouse will be an industrious place as they seek to make up for lost time and quietly discuss a possible team to face Australia in light of serious selection issues.  Most people getting a delivery on Thursday or Friday will get a PR 70.  But a couple of PR60s may creep in - that’ll be because Dai England won’t be able to resist mentioning that we’ve just beaten the Ozzies.

This release hasn’t flown out of the blocks price wise yet.
