2014 Royal Mint UK Silver Proof Collection   This attractive set of 13 coins holds the little recognised record of having the lowest mintage of any UK silver yearset. Just 368 sets were sold, making the 1p - £1 coins the rarest silver proof coins ever issued in GB, only the BU silver £1 coin of 2009 (mintage of 359) has a greater scarcity among British argentine numismatics.    Needless to say, this set is particularly sought after by collectors and resulted in my having to fork out a not inconsiderable sum in pursuit of my 112th and penultimate ag round pound, the shield pictured below.   Despite numerous  appeals on my part, it appears that not one member of TSF is in possession of a 2012 silver BU pound coin. I am fully chagrined up.  




 

After spending 13 days at customs, I finally received my 100 gram bar from @BackyardBullion thanks mate, it looks great with the other bars!!

This isn’t so much a ‘today I received’ post but it’s close enough.
Whilst going through some very old Victorian family photos from my late grandparents house, I found these at the bottom of the box.
I’m intrigued where the 1907, sadly drilled dime came from. I’ll never know.
The 1887 shilling has a nice finish to it.
They put a smile on my face, they wouldn’t grade well but I think they were my great grandfathers.
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, now I know where I get it from. 😊

10 Oz platinum could be a bit too much for me! 😅  Would be great to have though.
 
I'm not collecting the platinum series myself but if there's a completer I will get one!

If I were in charge of the mint there would be!  I’m not sure if they will, but if they do I would assume they stick with the same pattern and release it with the 10oz silver.

Many thanks for allowing me to join what appears to be an excellent forum.
You were recommended very highly by a fellow Brit collector with whom I've dealt with very successfully.
When I was making money (ie: before Covid and Lockdown) as a Mint Marque customer of the RM - I still get the emails and occasional hopeful phone calls - and regularly scooped up the more interesting new releases and a few sovereign sets and singles.
It may be that I'll have to reluctantly move on a few items to assist with bill-paying, but we'll see.

Yes I wouldn't mind getting a 10 Oz Completer as well.. How about platinum? Expected to have a completer?

I’m not sure, but if I had to guess I would say yes. It would be immensely popular in this size, and it seems easy enough to keep on the same 10oz schedule meaning it would be early next year. 
The kilo bullion sold out very quickly at all the dealers I use, and the 10oz would have the same benefit of a wide diameter at a lower price point. I would certainly buy it!

Looking forward to completing the set of 10 Oz, but will there be a Completer 10 Oz BU version?

I am so glad to have found this forum thanks to a comment on a uk you tube channel. I am hoping to become an active member in a community of like minded people after investing in PMs since 2014.
Regrettably my IT skills are somewhat lacking and I seek indulgence from all members in my forthcoming posts and potential replies.
My portfolio doesn’t stretch far beyond the Canada border but looking for some diversity and am sure this forum will provide ample opportunity.

I was working and driving when the first plane hit and couldn't believe it and when it happened again it was in a state of WTF!!! Such as sad day for all involved and i raised a glass for the lost then and another glass when the scum who orchestrated it was 'put down' by special forces and respect forever to those guys..

As an ex serviceman been caught up in it all post 9/11 - for many years post 9/11 - I served 1992 - 2015. I never forget.The innocent victims. The people involved in all the post tragedy and the soldiers and veterans and more importantly the familys killed in 9/11 on that fateful day.
Lest we forget the innocents, but please be mindful of this fact goverment(s) are part of this massive flaw.....
Thinking of people over the other side of the pond in USA.
My heart goes out to those lost.
I didnt have any coins on that day, but I remember it well.
Thinking of the USA and families struggling on that day regardless where they are from.
 

The New York State Quarter is a coin that everyone can afford to keep.
Released in January 2001, it features the Statue of Liberty and the words, 'Gateway to Freedom'.
 

 
The generation before me can always recall where they were when JFK was shot. September 11, 2001 is another example.

As I think I have posted here, before I knew her, my wife escaped the WTC North Tower after it was hit. 
At the same time, I was sat on a trading floor at Merrill Lynch London listening to things over the open lines to brokers that I will never forget and don't enjoy remembering.
9/11 is a day when I take a few minutes out to think about those who lost their lives, the impact on their families and those who did all that they could to rescue people.

Post a picture of a coin with ties or commemorates 9/11…

I received my 2021 2 ounce silver Queen's Beasts completer, a 2006 & 2021 1/10 ounce silver Britannia, and a 1936 USA Rhode Island Tercentenary half dollar.

Received this absolute stunner today 😍

Honestly think if I was in the US and had stacked a decent quantity of ASE's now would be the time to offload them. You could probably turn 500oz's into 550oz by buying Brits or Phils.

I personally think this has to do with the change over in design this year. Eagles tend to have a higher premium to begin with, and this year many buyers seems to be loading up on the “last year of design” and “first year of design” coins. 

I’m not one of them (except for a single coin of each I purchased 🙂), and I like other coins more given the premiums. However the dealers wouldn’t charge these premiums unless the buyers were buying, so I think it’s just supply and demand.
