The monarch has the final say on coins, of course Charles wants as many people as possible to buy them (apart from a couple of not-very-notable exceptions, which are obviously a very lame sop to collectors/flippers).
This is not about coins, it's about the monarchy (edit - upon which the RM depend on).
If anyone seriously expected any different I have a lovely collection of royal mugs I can sell you (coronation, silver jubilee, Charles and Diana, Queen Mum, etc).

We now have a monarch who, as heir, chose to be self-serving in his personal life, engaged in questionable dealings when taking money for his causes, and decided to interfere repeatedly in politics and side with entities such as the WEF, in a way that members of a constitutional monarchy never should. If Charles stays on I fear it may spell the end of the monarchy within the next few years.

Ian Rank-Broadley too did his 4th effigy based on photographs:
Raphael Maklouf and Arnold Machin however managed to get sittings with the Queen for the 3rd and 2nd effigies respectively.
I’m seeing that Mary Gillick too did NOT get a sitting with the Queen but based her effigy on a photograph.
Long story short… it’s not surprising if we were to find out that KC III’s portrait was likely done based on photographs.

I believe Jody Clark too used photographs for QE II’s 5th effigy and there was never an actual “sit down” (if that’s what you were imagining).
Here’s an excerpt from the Royal Mint website:
    https://www.royalmint.com/our-coins/events/the-queens-platinum-jubilee/the-coinage-portraits-of-her-majesty-the-queen--the-artists-stories/
“Everyone who entered the competition was supplied with the same reference material, showing The Queen facing different ways and in a number of different angles. I also did quite a lot of research online to find more natural, unposed images of her. I looked at the designs of the previous effigies and I wanted my design to work as part of that set as well as to work on its own.”

Perhaps I will be in the minority but for personal reasons of principle, will not be purchasing any coin with Charles on.

Don't forget that Victoria appeared with an uncrowned head on all of her young head coinage, which was from 1837 to 1887 for gold and silver coins, and from 1837 to 1894 for copper and bronze coins.
She only appeared with a crowned head from 1887 to 1901.
Also Elizabeth II had an uncrowned portrait from 1953 to 1968.

I just caught a small section of an interview with Anne Jessop, on BBC TV channel 1.
In it, Anne was explaining about the fact that Charles will a bare head on his new coins, whereas on most of her coins, Elizabeth wore a crown.
She sounded rather unconvincing, and at one point was talking about "male kings".
I wonder if she has had Woke LGBTQIA+ training, and what other types of kings there are?

Whoever made the post that Charles would ditch the crown but keep the earrings, thanks for making my day.  Absolutely hilarious.
If I was the king, you best believe all coinage would have me in a crown.

They will have to find a new Sovereign reverse design, as he surely won't want St George riding his wife on it...

kimchi reacted to Darr3nG in Royal Mint let me down, again!
My recent purchase of the BU £5 Sovereign was cancelled, without any comms or notification. I had ordered a Piedfort sovereign at the same time, which did arrive (complete with missing frosting).
I logged into my account a few days ago and noticed the coin was missing from both the open and closed orders sections, the Piedfort is still there.
I emailed them and just received the following response:
"After reviewing your account I see that there is no stock available, because of the amount of customers buying online, our systems were overloaded, now the stock levels have been adjusted to reflect sales the item was oversold unfortunately causing disappointment to our customers for which we apologise." That's the second time, they've screwed me out of a significantI order without comms! While we are getting somewhat used to problems in their QC section, it would appear that their stock systems may not be fully aligned with their website.
I should've followed my own advice (from the last time) and followed up the online order with a phone call - "fool me twice..."

All very true! I think one or two sensationalist news articles too many got pretty much everyone keeping anything different, just in case they were 'the next Kew Gardens'.
I think now is possibly/probably the best time to sell the ones with a premium. Except...
I think the whole set is very nice and quite special, one to keep for me

You really don't see any of the fancy 50p or £2 coins any more. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago they were relatively common, I have a few hundred quid worth with most of the available ones up till then, but I don't even bother now. Everyone is a coin collector now...
I have actually thought about taking them all to bank/post office and cashing them in. Probably have at least a sovereign worth!
