Nice coin - and looks like a real MS65 - trust me, I am an expert now??!
Thanks to everyone for all the advice and detective work on my miserable fail on the 1865 Morgan (that clearly isn't...!). I have certainly learned another lesson the hard way. I was genuinely excited to get an 1893 and the 65 was a bonus, but turned out to be a nightmare! I was reassured when I tracked down the verification , but without a PCGS picture I was never 100% sure.
What a disreputable bunch of people there are out there - selling fakes (or at best, below par genuine coins) in fake slabs. I will work to get my money back, as it was "only" £151, but still - it's money I could have spent elsewhere. Was not from a Chinese site. I am surprised that the Phillie 1893 is being selected for this - as it's the 1893 S that has the real collectors value. Makes me want to focus on either gold, or modern silver / Pd / Pt instead of risking tracking down genuine old silver coins.

@Lindeman, if it would help you bounce back, I've got a 2014 5 oz Proof Libertad in its original capsule I'd sell you. Only 800 minted that year. You said you had a thing for Libertads...you know you wanna.

NCS could most likely take care of that spot for you. If you really want the coin for your collection, it may be worth a few bones to have them look at it. I know @Numistacker has had good luck with NCS taking care of red spots on at least one of his sovereigns. Just a thought.

You boys and girls are playing with a bigger honey pot than I. I think all three will be winners both as additions to a personal collection to enjoy and as an investment pick-up. That said, XE.com tells me that more USD than this working sot can swing at the moment. Holding my powder for the proof Brits. Congrats to all who picked these up...amazing pieces!

Pick-up #2 from the DNW auction today. I was able to check off two boxes today from my "Want List", the 1807-A Half Franc and the 1849 Godless Florin. I'm going to bed now Looking forward to sending both these coins along to @Numistacker for one of his upcoming NGC submissions.

Congratulations!
I looked at this myself as it is in a good grade (AEF - the VG and KM are the reference book numbers).
I just wasn't sure how NGC would view the mark on the face??? which is probably why the estimate was so low at £120-150 as without the mark and in that grade it could have easily been more than £700!
Upgrading will be difficult?
Thanks so much @SilverTanner. So besides the damage to the portrait, you see it being a decent example? I was guessing that the wear at the 8 o'clock on the obverse as well as the wear at the 10 o'clock on the reverse would further lower the grade in addition to the "adjustment mark" on the portrait. That said, I don't see this being a NGC Details grade as it's not cleaned, repaired, hairline scratches, etc. it's simply damage to the coin just as any other damage a coin suffers that lowers its grade south of MS. That's my theory anyway. We'll see as this'll be going to Uncle Numi for grading and NCS Conservation

Success! Finally a winning bid on the DNW auction today. While this 1807-A Negro Head Napoleon Quarter Franc is only in G/VG condition (though DNW had this as "Adjustment mark on face, otherwise about extremely fine"), I really wanted to pick up a specimen of this rare coin. I'll look to upgrade from here but I'm happy to add it to the collection.

An 1893 Philadelphia Morgan Dollar, via eBay and a European seller. Pretty excited about this for two reasons. First - because when it arrives that will complete my simple date run ...with only 1895 missing (but they are impossibly rare ..so I will just have an empty tray slot for that year!).
Second - it's graded an MS65 by PCGS...which (if genuine...knowing my luck!) would make it worth well over $1000. It's an old style PCGS holder though....so fingers crossed that grade is still regarded as genuine?, as I paid a lot less than $1000 for it.
Will share pics of it when I get it - probably next weekend. To be frank, when comparing pictures to MS65 sales on NGC website, the coin I bought looks closer to MS64 or MS63. But if it's for real and MS65 I will not be rushing to break it out and reslab it....
And the PCGS cert number checked out OK when you verified it on the verification page of their site? If so, I don't think you have a thing to worry about and kudos on a great pick up!

My first Sovereign! Won this 1918-I George V at Heritage Auctions for $300 ($352 w/ buyer's premium). I've been sweating it all week since it posted. There was some early action (starting bid was $150) and then tonight during the live bidding, nothing. I'm stoked to have this to start my George V 1918 set. It'll be on its way to NGC soon.

That was quick! Impressive delivery time for the RM. Man, those Gold proofs look even better in your photos than on the RMs website. How's the quality on both? Have you put them under the loupe yet? I must say, I'm hoping for the best from a quality perspective for my 1 oz Silver proof but I'm keeping my fingers crossed just in case

I've lost count of the number of times in recent months that someone has questioned the authenticity of a purchase. I must confess to being guilty of this also

LOL, you're going to have to change your screen name to just "steve" You're still the go-to guy for all things Sovereign related.

@prophet800 the weird line looks a lot like a die crack.
is that damage to the rim?
And is that a double strike? Look at the numbers in the date (or is that how it's supposed to look when minted)?

I'm following @Numistacker's lead...per @HyHy, confirmed that the raw coins were sold out at MCM so I picked this beauty up from NY Coin & Bullion for $149 w/ free shipping...Not overly concerned that it won't come with the OGP as the CoAs don't give a specific number for your coin (kinda like the 2017 BU Silver Krugs).

Woohoo...big "THANK YOU" to @SilverSiren for the lead at Downies. Just picked up the 2017 Krug Silver Proof for $110 including shipping to the US! I love when currency conversions work in your favor!

A nice little distraction as I continue working on the 10Y 1 oz date run. Great, eye-catching design IMO.

With the spot price on Silver dropping and Provident Metals sale on 2016 Britannia's "$1.49 over spot for any quantity" with free shipping for orders over $99, I snagged 10 for $17.99/coin.

New Perth Mint 2017 Dragon & Phoenix 1 oz Silver High Relief Proof Coin. Mintage limited to 5,000 coins. So far, the only dealer I've found carrying this new release is Directcoins.com A representative at Talisman said at this time they do not anticipate offering this coin.
Today I bought.....

Picked up the 1918 C in great condition. Only one coin graded higher than MS63 between NGC and PCGS. Add this to the 1918 I and I'm inching closer to that year's mint set.
