If they know their numbers and have a typical lifetime customer value it could be good business even if one coin is a loss leader or only breaking even, after taking into consideration the fixed costs.
Purely made up numbers but say it's effectively costing them £5 to send us our bullion sovs but they make £200 profit off an upsell and 1 in 20 take the upsell then the model would be profitable... That's without considering reoccurring purchases etc maybe between us SF members less take the upsell but maybe general punters from the press advert are less clued up are more likely to take an upsell and a fancy box etc

I think what most people are objecting to is being contacted in ways - and for purposes - they've explicitly opted out of.
Selling something that is attractively cheap is not a valid excuse to break data protection law, and it immediately makes me question whether I would want to buy from them again if this is how they respect their obligations under the GDPR.
But let's face it, if it's cheap enough who wouldn't take a punt?  

I must be the only one who doesnt mind getting mail from them. I find some of their offerings interesting, although I rarely buy from them.

I didn't get a gothic crown. My sovereign isn't coming until 'mid January'... but I did get these crackers from @matt1r..
Bought yesterday, arrived today, exactly as advertised, well packaged. Hmmmm... I wonder who could take a lesson from this??!!

I ordered one yesterday and Ive gone back in to order another. I've gone as far as "Pay" so I guess it'll let anyone buy a 2nd one. Unless it gets cancelled after.

Are they still offering the QEII 40 year proof sovereign collection for £40k or has it gone up? That was my favourite part of the conversation, I'd hate for anyone to miss out on that! I did PMSL but it was worth it, one of the funniest things I've ever heard 🤣

I just got the phone call too - ostensibly to say my order had been received and would be dispatched in January, but it was clearly an attempt to try and sell me the proof versions too.
I don't like that kind of thing. I had the same with Bullion House once.
At least they're all polite!

Only ever got one phone call, very polite and accepted that I was (and always will be) only interested in their cheapest bullion... keep up the good work  
Don't really mind the excessive mail, fancy paper makes for great kindling in my wood burner.

Both came in screw-lock capsules, nice!

Miy Crown has arrived safe and sound as well and looking amazing. Very lucky to get and can't wait for the 5oz to turn up now. Should be even more stunning... 😀
