Where were you when we needed you?
Back in 2008/9, we collected 3.2 tonnes of Perth Mint Australian silver coins from the airport.
We hired a 7.5 tonne GVW lorry, which I was covered to drive on my licence. We were borderline legally loaded, 7 pallets evenly spaced.
Unloading it at our old place on Lytham Road was interesting. It was evening when we arrived with it. Duncan slashed the plastic shrinkwrap of the bundles, handed them down to me, I trucked them across the pavement to our front door, Jane stood in our airlock, opening and closing it for me, moving it through the inner door when we could. It worked well.
There is a pub opposite, many locals were outside drinking, and we heard some shouts like "Eh up, lads, t'gold bars have arrived". We had no security issues, but then Duncan is about 6'4'', well built, and looked quite daunting standing on the back of a wagon wielding a Stanley knife.

Can’t stop looking at this stunning coin, the mirror finish on a proof sovereign is really beautiful specially when it’s a double sovereign.

Received this trio of 1oz Silver Proof Krugerrands- all three eBay auction wins from Saturday- separate auctions but all from the same seller at an excellent aggregate price for each one. They go nice with the 2020 2oz Krugerrand- just ‘need’ the 2017 50th Anniversary Proof to join them. 




 

Picked up three coins in auctions very cheaply, there is some incredible bargains to be had if you spend a bit of time searching, its seems just the .999 bullion coins and bars that seem to be going through the roof price wise.
From left to right 
1939 dated Malaya 10 Cents,  these were made from .750 silver until 1941 when they were made from .500 , 10 million were minted in 1939 and 17 million in 1941 of this coin type.
1945 dated British 6 pence,  these were made of .500 silver and a whopping 40 million were minted this year alone.
1945 dated British 1 Shilling English version, these were also made of .500 silver, there was two types of this coin made, an English and Scottish with different obv,  15 million were minted of this coin this year

Today I got two more of these beautiful ladies! Brings me up to 3 total. Want at least 10.

Also picked up some Silver with the Perth Mint’s 2017 - 2020 Australia 1 oz Silver Swan series in BU.

Little delivery from @arshimo2012 only order yesterday afternoon arrives by 10am this morning 

2019 and 2020  10 ounce Valiants.

Picked up some missing QBs for my collection when spot dipped right before everything was sold out.  Grabbed them at just the right time!
And a couple geese. 

 

I think wonger is a good sport but IMHO he has a point re gold & silver. I am personally neutral on both because I'm a collector not a stacker & don't worry about spot prices.
But re this Coronavirus hysteria it has shown what your average punter in the street is interested in & its not gold or silver its toilet rolls & food & cheap pharma (paracetamols aspirin etc).
When this thing blows over the majority of people in the western world will be in the s--t re their jobs housing etc, most are in the s--t the 1st week they don't get paid. So I do not think there will be a rush to buy gold or silver. I may well be wrong but there is always two sides to a coin so to speak.
I'm more surprised that gold in particular is not way higher than it is now with stock markets all over the world down sharply & miners shutting up shop. Personally with this corona farce I would have expected gold to be over $2000 per oz.

Part of our hobby involves hunting and searching for information on coins and PM's,so increasing our knowledge on our subject,  it is a good discipline to get into.
 
If you can't find the answer to your question after a couple of searches no problem post one.

Hardly an awe-inspiring numismatic icon...but a long way from a liquid market. This silver 2014 £1 coin had a total mintage (BU & proof) of just 1118 across sets and individual coins. Apart from the 2016 silver £1 (mintage 383, only available as part of the annual proof set) this is the rarest silver one pound coin ever minted.  So, very attractive -  if only in the eye of this beholder.  
 
 
 
 

Today I received my year of the corona virus 2020 proof britannia! 

Picked up some what I think are nice, 1945 dated 50% silver coins for my stack.
 

 

 

Got a couple of 1/4 oz gold Horses (of Hanover) which should hopefully delay the four horseman for a bit....
Got lucky with the price dip and the just before change in situation with Atkinsons deliveries!

Several additions to my 1967 collection with the invaluable help of @augur and @Lr103 🙏

A new coin from the Royal Australian mint, Canberra. Mintage of 5,000. 

It was worth all the stamps. It’s the first release of the 1992 10oz Kookaburra. 
The coin, presentation case and the coa are in mint condition.
Very happy with this one.
