In ten years whatever you buy will have probably tripled in value and a 10oz lump of gold will be hard to shift short of bullion dealers. Do you really want to be stuck with that when you could have diversified into smaller denominations making it easier for you to sell, split, and transport? Also consider storage. Is this an eggs in one basket approach or will you be using numerous secure storage locations? £14000 isn't a massive amount in terms of gold acquisition but its still substantial and needs looking after safety. If it were me, full sovereigns. Factor in secure storage, easily £100 + annually. It's a nice amount of money to play with but as I mentioned if it were me sovereigns all the way.*
*All of this waffle was brought to you by my opinion, which is often not worth listening to

In Venezuela 5 or 6 years ago, 60,000 bolivars would buy you a house, or 60 x 1oz gold coins, these days 60 x 1oz coins will still buy you a house, but 60,000 bolivars will buy you a loaf of bread (if you're lucky)

I am, but a lot slower. I'm keeping back some of the budget just in case. As we are close to golds ATH I would think it prudent to hold on for a bit with any larger purchase.

I used to wait for a drop (but half the time it doesn't happen). So the way I see it is - if you're in it for the long game - then in 10 years the fact that you paid and extra £20 for a sovereign today will mean nothing (with inflation that £20 would likely be worth £10 or less by then) and the gold will have gone up waaaaayyy more than that extra twenty squids by then too 🐙 🦑🚀 💰

Are forum members continuing to buy at the current price? I was intending to make a large purchase this month but going to hold off for the time being.

It depends really I am not put off by the prices at the moment if it something I particularly want then I will still buy. It is more long term for me.
If you are looking to flip quick then now is maybe not the time  but the market is volatile at the moment no one really knows its a personal thing.

Kinda agree however premiums appear to have jumped too, I don't see many Sovs going within 4-5% of spot at the moment and with everything else also being squeezed outside of PMs...

It would be far better to show actual photos of what you are referring to, and even better to include a description, such as "one ounce gold lunar tiger".
Also, how can anyone provide an informed opinion unless you tell them how much you paid.
Nobody here is clairvoyant, so cannot foresee whether it's price / value will increase in future.

Not much been happening recently due to the postal strike. Had been waiting on 2 forum purchases arriving for 2 weeks, finally arrived this morning.
First was a Utah Goldback from @CookieMonster, always thought they they looked pretty neat, and they do!
Second delivery was from a top member that we all know, I have dealt with him a few times. When posted this contained a 2000 & 2001 Silver Britannia. However it arrived opened and empty.

Posted 1st class signed for, but just stuck through my letterbox a fortnight later, obviously opened and obviously emptied of its contents.
This is the first time I have been victim of this sort of theft from Royal Mail, and although it wasn't a huge amount of money I'm still livid.
The most annoying thing is that nothing will be done and nobody cares. This is level of postal service that is accepted now.

How can a metal with very limited industrial use that can be mined from the ground be used as a store of value?
Money is a store of value, because you can use it to procure products at a later stage. I’d argue currency was created with store of value being one of its prime purposes.
Money can be printed (inflated), but so can gold by way of increasing supply. Granted, money is easier to inflate on a larger and more readily available scale.
    But scarcity doesn’t necessitate value.

Banks and bigwig bankers are the worst of all fraudsters and scammers, they it is who are responsible for all of our financial woes, yet to question their actions and behaviour invites disapproval and disdain.  How can this be..?
I do however admire their skill in turning the whole thing around to make it look convincingly like they're only ever working in our interests and protecting us all while making vast riches for themselves as they print money endlessly from thin air at all of our expense..

So we're all slowly becoming more accepting of "blocked transactions" that I/we authorise, under the guise of protection (when isn't a restriction put in place for our protection) in the name of "anti-fraud" policies, put in place by businesses that partake in the highest levels of fraud...and to question this is a conspiracy theory.

My disdain, wait no, that's too nice, my sheer hatred and loathing of the banking industry is at an all time high. I take responsibility for my own money, having to provide valid reasons to spend over X amount is something everyone should find troubling and is ultimately a step towards CBDC dystopia, whereby you can only redeem your vouchers if you've been a good boy/girl. Conspiracy you say? Seen China recently?
