Interesting that the gold price is sliding just before the BRICS summit, where it is rumoured a gold-backed currency will be announced.... USA skulduggery, perhaps?

For bullion, the premium is insane - 15%. Even if the coin becomes somewhat of a rarity, it might be hard to recoup money spent

Yep, I only bought 1 as a bit of a curiosity incase it does become rare. I don't plan on selling it on
The ounces I'll shift eventually, but it's nice to keep a small token from this era and the 1/4 oz is the perfect size, I love it. Size of a sov but with awesome detail

Hardly surprising. BBP always charges a hefty premium

It’s far easier to prosecute people for hurty words on Twitter and BBC license fee non payment. I think that’s what it comes down to - ease of prosecution.

Meh. If the premiums are lower, I'll continue to load up on the memorial sovereigns for as long as they are available

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that the bullion coins were to be released in July.

I’m not sure if any other members have posted about this but it has been released by The Royal Mint that there will be a Coronation Sovereign.
I take from this that there will be, of course, aside from the STOD 6th May 2023 Sovereign, a new Coronation proof sovereign and a bullion sovereign to come.
Maybe we won’t see a return to the usual St.George and dragon sovereign until 2024?
Wether you collect, buy, trade or see the posts here on the forum in passing fleet, we truly are living through history at the moment.
You might say or think that it’s the 1902 of today when Edward VII was crowned King on the death of his mother or the moment when George V came to the throne in (1910) with his coronation of 1911 or maybe in 1937 when George VI was crowned.
The point is, I could go on, but I don’t want to.
The passing of one monarch to the next, however sad on a family level and on personal level is difficult.
But, move on we must and not a year ago could we imagine people trading and advising on Charles III coins. That’s how fast time goes.
Anyway, here we are, Coronation Day. 6th May 2023.
This might just be the one to own.
I’m going to say, dare I? Oh go on, watch this space….
We really are living through history at present.

It all about priorities. Before you start stacking gold and silver you should have at least two to three months worth of food stored and a few camping style water filters. This should be enough to see you through most emergencies which last for a few weeks or months.
Also worthy of consideration in case of a more prolonged emergency are:
- Tools and knowledge to grow your own food with.
- Tools to chop firewood with.
- A large ferro rod and striker capable of starting thousands of fires.
- Learn how to make a 'rocket stove' (cook efficiently using very little firewood).
- Learn how to make a water filter using common everyday readily available items.

And conversely there would be more meat on your silver and gold than there would be in the hot dogs.

I do see it a lot with silver stackers, we seam to get some almost wishing for armageddon a collapse of the economic system. Will your stack save you.....really?
You lose your job, you or your landlord defaults on the mortgage and you are turfed out , basic services collapse.......... how much would your stack have to be really worth to get you though this? And that's if whats left of the economic system will allow you to liquidate it.....Think about that for a moment, you get what you wish for an economic collapse and there is no system for you to liquidate your PM's as the very same system you hope will fail is the only system that allows you to liquidate your gold. How's @James32 Supposed to buy it from you at £6000 per oz?
I do think holding PM's gives some people a very false sense of security.
Just a thought for the day!

asl reacted to PhilOdgny in "Don't tell the wife" - an outdated trope
The saying "Happy wife, happy life" is incorrect. It should be "No wife, happy life" IMHO.
If how you spend YOUR money is determined by how much it might affect your day to day relationship with someone then I strongly suggest you reconsider that relationship or, alternatively, reconsider how open you are with that person about you spending habits. The latter approach is particularly useful, I hear, for when such controlling and abusive relationships break down 😉

asl reacted to ArgentSmith in Only special delivery covers bullion ( great tagline we all love to use )... unless there's an actual problem.
This is interesting just had a call from the RM chap assigned to investigate who seemed genuinely concerned. There is more information available than we get on the tracking app thats for sure.
The guy said it was very strange to have this from Edinburgh, he asked if there were any other items in the package. I replied it was just the one Kilo silver coin. By all accounts there is a note saying dangerous goods removed remaining items allowed to continue.
My new friend said he will be contacting Edinburgh MC this afternoon when the shift starts to find out exactly whats going on, and will report back 🥳
