2023 Coronation bullion Sovereign (is crowned!)

As this is now the ‘official’ 2023 Sov, to those much more experienced at this, does that mean it likely remains on sale for the rest of the year? Trying to work out my timeframe to buy the number of these I want to. Thanks all

If they go back to a normal schedule these would be on sale until the start of January 2024. No guarantees atm with RM, but I'd say that's the likely timeframe for the 2024 Sov.

Most likely.

Usually the sovereign for the coming year is released around Oct/Nov time.

However with the late Queens passing and a new monarch, I imagine this has thrown the Royal Mints schedule off track. You’d have hoped they’d have been prepared for this happening.

The 2023 bullion sovereign will likely be readily available until the end of the year and then normal routine would likely resume. It isn’t set in stone and there has been much speculation recently on the forum but I’d imagine that 2023 is the only year we’ll see the crowned portrait of The King.

So late Autumn 2024 we’ll see the proof and then the bullion 2025 sovereign released. That’s the usual timeline of release.

I wouldn’t put it past RM to release another two sovereigns this year, maybe the anniversary of the Queens passing in September and maybe a SOTD for The Kings 75th birthday in November.

I feel this period of 2021 - 2023 has been a very interesting time wether you’re a stacker, collector or numismatist. In terms of sovereigns we’ve had the last of a monarch, without knowing it at the time when the 2022 proof was released which also coincided with a historic Platinum Jubilee. Then a memorial sovereign release followed by a Coronation sovereign. It seems to have been special release after special release recently.

I have a feeling the future numismatist will look back on 2021 - 2023 with envy.

It'll be a standard bullion Sov. Should be priced basically the same as the Memorial Sov per dealer.

I've budgeted £410-£425 for a single one.  Can't see them below £400 myself but that would be ideal. 🙂

On the day of release, the memorial sovereigns were around 10%. They quickly dropped, however

These look great in bullion will leave it a while until premiums have dropped.

The memorial seems to be slow seller with demand being low I wonder if any will be melted down and crowns fitted 🤔

Absolutely correct. It is unusual that a male monarch appears on UK coinage crowned. Save for these coronation coins I cannot see it happening again during the current reign. This 2023 bullion sovereign is a lovely little coin, which I think might attract a premium in the future but is well worth collecting in its own right.

Here's my nice little half sovereign. Looks good to me. The only thing I don't like about it is it makes me want more of them.
