Nice, that's the double year one as well

The 1868 were mixed with silver only and are very yellow and the 1869 were mixed with copper only and were minted using the 1868 die so have the 'wrong' date - this looks to be an actual 1868 alloyed with silver

Struck to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Benedetto Pistrucci Sovereign of 1817 and based on the original design of 1817 with the plumed helmet, St George and dragon right, surrounded by the Order of the Garter with a buckle, HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE.
Reverse inscription translates as 'Evil be to he that evil thinks'.

Small date run of shields received today

The two rares are pretty worn but still decent. The 1859 has an interesting 8 in the date, not sure at the moment if it is a straight over-stamp or maybe an 8 over 3

I am not generally a fan of gold bars but I do like the Geiger stuff so would likely pick that over a Pamp, the exception being the Wonka bars which went crazy popular

I see no obvious sign this has been mounted - does it have solder on the rim that is not shown or did you remove it from a mount? If there is no solder and it was a clasp mount it should not make any difference.

Its a common date but £410 is currently only £12 over spot, a reasonable price but not a bargain. @CallumHSLimited has a post up for young heads for the same price and the 1885M on the bottom row of his post looks better, I also liked the look of his 1886M & 1887M
