I believe there is a separate issue here other than the all copper alloy we all dislike. The RM has for many years depicted its sovereigns as extra-ordinarily 'Pink' in all its advertising/brochures/online etc. In fact It is so artificial in colour as to be embarrassing! Surely the RM can produce an image that's more accurate in colour. None of my sovereigns look this way, unless I'm going colour blind! Of course when compared side by side with an older sovereign it looks terrible'
I remember the days when men were men, and sovereigns actually looked 'golden' not  'girly pink' representations.😄

I'm playing with mine tonight. Only using an iphone but got a cheap £20 macro lens off of amazon. Below is where I've got to on a 2021 sovereign, just need to sort out a diffuser to photograph through to loose the reflections. Also using a stand for the phone to keep it steady.

Prize Draws:

As well as 12 months of Premium Member Prize Draws, each giving away 1oz of silver to a lucky winner there was also over 24oz of additional silver prizes given away. There were also a lot of charity auctions ran by our members to help raise money for causes that are close to their hearts as well as other charities. We hope to increase the number of Prize Draws and draws to promote TSF as our budget allows. 
 
 
2021 Trade Statistics:

A core part of TSF is the trade section. Many Premium Members have reported saving more than the cost of membership simply by the savings on the items they have purchased from other forum members. Many members also prefer the personal touch of dealing directly with other members. As well as the other listed benefits, Premium Members also get to see the trade listings 3 days before standard members, and with many if not all items that are priced competitively going within this time frame it is worth upgrading to get first look at this items for sale.

7927 trade topics were started in 2021. That is over 21 new trade listings per day. Some of these were wanted listings, but with the majority of ‘for sale’ listings containing multiple items and some containing extensive collections for sale as individual items, it means the items listed for sale far exceed this number. That is over 660 new trade listings per month! This arguably makes TSF’s trade section the largest precious metals trade section of any forum or group.


Some other notable things that happened on TSF in 2021:

- We released a TSF branded NGC label & partnership with Coins of the Realm to provide trustworthy NGC grading services and auction submissions for members.

- We released the Platinum Offers Program for selected dealers programme, extending the benefits for Platinum Members without any increase to membership cost. We also simultaneously introduced a higher tier Platinum PLUS Premium Membership package in order to provide extended Platinum Offers and discounts.

- TSF migrated to faster servers with better worldwide distribution and page loading speeds, meanwhile also increasing the security from potential DDOS attacks. The servers that we use are used by many large scale European businesses.

There is now an additional cost for us to send out emails and email notifications, however it means that notifications can now be delivered more quickly and without delays or backlogs during peak periods.

Sadly FDCs from the 1970s and 1980s are not worth much.  They were sold in their thousands when stamp collecting was really popular, but now fewer people collect stamps, youngsters are not really interested in stamps and older collectors are dying out (literally!).
Over the years, a number of my friends have asked me to look at stamp collections they have been left following the death of a relative, I have told them that they might as well use any mint stamps from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s for postage (before they are invalidated - following the Queen's death?).  If one looks on eBay, there are thousands of FDCs and most go unsold.
This does not mean that one should not collect them - some are very attractive and others may represent historic occasions.  Indeed it could be said that it is a good time to buy philatelic items, because so much material is coming on to the market - just do not expect it to go up very much in value, unless it is very specialised.

The duty rate on silver imported into the UK is 0% I believe so there would only be VAT added.

You are right! Hence the investigation/claim. I had to provide all paperwork, pictures, invoices, payments etc etc. And it was clearly a gold sovereigns what was in the package, still they charged me the VAT due to a wrong number so it seems. 
I'll write them again on Monday.

EU has an annually updated official list of gold coins that meet the conditions to be treated as VAT exempt investment gold. You can find it here (and Tap for document text) and it does include the sovereign. So just refer them to this list and you should be able to claim 0% VAT.
By the way, the list does not include all eligible coins, also those that are not included but meet the conditions are eligible for 0% VAT.
The HS code is for assessing the customs duty and while there may be different codes for monetary/non-monetary gold, it's in general subject to 0% duty anyway.
