    Service from the RM has been excellent ( 48 hour typical delivery ) of late whereas Atkinsons have been slow ( 2 weeks ) but not complaining.
    My dislike of using the RM is that when you go to checkout they need you to prepay and until the transaction has gone through the price has fluctuated so you have to send them more cash than the coin costs otherwise if you are short you have to repeat the process. End result is you have a few quid sitting in their bank and I don't know how easy it would be to get it refunded later.

    If you wait a few days you should be able to withdraw it

    I have requested a return label and after calling them they will try fix or replace but the lady I was speaking to was unsure if they could make a new one for me. Fingers crossed 

    @BackyardBullionAlso they are sending me a label instead of emailing one, Is that standard ? don't really want to wait to send it back.  

    I highly doubt they will replace anything if it is no longer in stock. Most likely you will never hear back and they will refund you instead. You can request your own label here:

  3. The proofs were cool but I don't know how I feel about spending £90 on something which will probably spot. Its not like the RM has good quality control so its a gamble on something which might go down instead of up in value. I wanted to get the 1oz proof but I just couldn't do it bearing this in mind.

    I wish they'd make silver bullion versions to go alongside the bullion gold. I would've liked ¼oz but I'm guessing the design would've been lost. I'll be saving up and getting it from atkinsons as its cheaper and its a nice coin to get if you didn't manage to get the entire series

    This is whats stopping me from buying the proofs. Milky overpriced coins. I'd rather save up and buy the gold bullion version

    On the negative side - let's see what it actually looks like when it turns up... 🙃

    I saw earlier, I was almost tempted to but a second 10oz but I stuck to my guns and bought a sovereign instead. Trying not to give RM any more of my money

    With regards to old white British notes of this era, they would be cancelled when the money was paid out, usually by having holes put through the note or cutting a section out.

    I always thought it odd that many banknotes of the era were denominated in pounds (great for swapping into silver coinage) but not so great for swapping into guineas, where you'd have to pay a shilling coin with your note to get the gold coin.

    That said some notes were denominated in guineas.

    From memory, I do believe the first notes issued with values lower than £5 came into circulation in the 1790s as an emergency measure, due to the various French wars that Britain was involved in, and that convertibility into gold was suspended temporarily and remained so until the 1820s or so, some years after Napoleon was defeated. I'm happy to be corrected though on precise dates.

    From memory I think you're correct. The £1 note was in circulation and very easy to forge. There was a back and forth as to whether or not people should be punished for forging the note if they made it that easy. I believe they also applied the same penalty to those found in possession of the note as those who were forgers. 

  8. also they may approve an exchange and then just put the money back into your investment wallet and never tell you about it either. 

    Apologies I've just realised you're not in the UK, not sure what you could do in all honesty besides leaving them a very negative review on trustpilot, that usually gets their attention

    100 oz britannia bar came with alot of scratches on the back that cant seem to be removed. 

     

    I have contacted rm since last tuesday but haven't got a reply . Do you guys just sent it back on your own shipping cost or wait for rm for a reply first ?

    If the bars are still in stock and you can afford to buy them again I would encourage you to do that before returning. I do this and effectively issue my own replacements and request my refund instead. They can take up to a week to respond to emails and sometimeish on the phone. I know the stock levels were low so by the time you get a concrete answer and they receive the bars and issue a replacement they might sell out. Good luck getting a replacement after this, they've made it very clear they will not mint more and will send yours to scrap then potentially lie about their ability to replace. I had this issue with them, ordered on 01 March and only as of the last week is my issue now resolved. 

    Fastest response you will probably get will be if you leave them a negative review on Trustpilot and even then it will be Jane who contacts you asking for your details and still takes another 48-120 hours to get someone on the phone to you. If you really want the bars, I wouldn't risk waiting in all honesty

I think they just send the returned items out to new buyers as not everyone is as fussy. Someone on here said they returned an item like 3 times and each one had to be sent back. 

    I spoke to the infamous "Jane" from trustpilot. She confirmed they're being sent to scrap. They're definitely not minting replacements and half the time not even bothering to send out replacements they still have in stock, just refunding and moving on. They do seem to enjoy promising replacements for out of stock products but they're not sending them out. 

    It would make sense to knock up replacements, I refuse to believe they don't have standard sized blanks lying around they couldn't utilise quickly to make a replacement. I'm also refusing to believe they're disposing of dies immediately either.
