I'm pretty sure if I was ever to do something like that whatever I produced would be unrecognisable 😀

They've killed the total 1 sovereign mintage, it was 12,700 for the QEII jubilee, for Charles it is 20,950.
And why is this dated 2022? So another special reverse for 2023?
It's being milked way more than I was expecting, I've really got to think long and hard about whether I should continue purchasing these!

The QEII sovereign was £585 at release, and BBP are saying the total mintage for the 1sov is 23,160 even more than I thought.

Some of the most amazing pieces I have ever seen. Will likely go to an antique auction.

So heres my first sand cast silver pour. (To be honest i missed getting the molten silver in the mold the first time round and the result you can see below!)
Theres a few things that i'll change for the next attempt, but overall i'm happy with this as a starting point.

Basically, the same as the royal coat of arms used on the platinum jubilee sovereign but the crown is different on Charlie boy's version of it, hardly any noticeable difference really.
Whoever is designing the new coin will interpret it differently and hopefully we won't get two sovereigns in a row that look near enough identical.

And now for something completely different..........
Inspired by the work of our resident silver pourers @BackyardBullionand @StBeesSilver i started to watch some youtube videos, and came across lost wax (investment) casting. With lost wax (which i can resin print) i can reproduce some of my warhammer figures etc which i couldn't do with sand casting.  Now this will be a relatively large layout for the kit, but i gotta start somewhere. So i've treated myself to a budget furnace, some tools and a bag of silver grain. I've fired up the resin printers with some basic rounds, and donned my asbestos pants!
    If i don't post for a while, i'll update you when i get out of A&E 😂

Two and a half ounces of golden goodness. The half oz elephant is 33mm in diameter which is bigger than the 1oz Yale (at 32.69mm).  It is visually pleasing at this size. I like it.

Had an enjoyable start to stacking, its something I considered doing about a decade ago before I knew there was a community around it, glad I recently took the leap and started, my wife thinks im mad but its the only investment we have that hasnt made a real loss recently.  In the first quarter of stacking im up to just under 300oz of silver, 70gm of gold and some small amounts of platinum.  I started building a base with liquidity in mind and to ensure anything I purchased I could exit within 1 - 2 weeks at a reasonable price and to a large pool should needs must.
Im at the point now with Silver where i can see what are keepers versus what are things that i would happily trade out of into gold when it seems like a good time. I started thinking of the stack as a pyramid with the liquid base being smaller fractions, over time ill turn that on its head and have the base in larger weights.  ive also been able to get enough data to see what i think are reasonable buy/sell prices.
I will buy desirable bars when I think they represent reasonable value otherwise focus on gold, I dont want to limit myself to just CGT free coins as its a bit boring but also sensible to keep in mind with a 20 year stacking window.  From Q1 next year i'm hoping to get a nice tube of sovs or brits to start the fyr.
I also want to finish off my silver QB collection so i can mothball that in a nice presentation box.
When funds permit the shopping list now is something along the lines of:
    Gold:
1/4oz TB Yale 1oz TB Lion and Yale Brits & Sovs Assays to plug the dopamine drop between now and new year when funds are tight Silver:
2oz Falcon & 2oz Griffin - if i can get a cheap tube, i'll buy and offload the majority KG, 500gm, 250gm, 10oz bars as and when the time/price is right and they look fondalable.

A modest little coin that I have actually been intending to get for ages and never got round to it. Until now. The 1995 End of WWII silver proof £2. I think its a really pretty coin.
Beside it in the picture is a circulation one that I found in change back when it was released. It was the first time I noticed a 'fancy' coin in my change, so I kept it. I've always liked it. Maybe the gold one day to complete the set...
