I don't think it is a good idea. A sovereign should be always 22ct, a credible gold grade for everyone.
Let's imagine that Royal Mint will decide to change the composition of sovereign from 2022 to 24k and because the appetite for sovereigns will decrease, will decide to change again from 2032 in 14k and from 2042 in 9k to make it more affordable for the poor people.  What will be the result? Everybody will search on a trade if is Pre22, Pre32, Pre42 or Post42.
Have you ever checked a bucket of old british currency full of 3pence and 6pence if are Pre20,  Pre47 or Post48?
Let's all accept the sovereign as 22ct, doesn't matter the colour. Can be for me any kind of alloys, with silver, copper, antimony, zinc, or led, any non-radioactive metal, any colour from rainbow 🌈, but should have 91.67% Au.
I know, it is frustrating for a lot of collectors, but there are lots of other 9999 gold coins to stack.
Sorry if I've offended someone, it is only my personal opinion.
    Stefan.

Re dents and scratches I'm sure everyone would take care of their coins regardless of 24 or 22ct in the same way that their QBs have been cared for over the last 5 years. My proof and bullion QBs have! My latest suggestion, as an alternative to 24ct would be to add some bl...dy silver to the alloy. Look on the RM website - their sovereigns actually look PINK. I rest my case. Thought I would make a point with my 1817 and the 2017 photo re colour diffs.

Alot of sovereigns look a rose gold colour to me which I don't like. I know alot of people love them but I struggle to find them as nice as other gold coins.
Some of the older different designs are nice
Each to the own I spose

Don’t usually buy silver, but given that this game was a little more historic, thought it was a nice keepsake!

Today I received an 1896 Half Sovereign, purchased to mark my 25th birthday as an almost-birth year coin!
It looks like the previous owner polished it at some point, but I'm still pretty happy considering what I paid 😊

The Silver Forum is built on trust and integrity.

Whilst we believe that members should utilise the trading feedback system and TSF itself should not intervene in members trading between each other. On this occasion we have decided that it is better for the community to close this member's account.
Members who wish to list items for auction please understand the risks of doing so, please see this topic here on hidden reserves not being allowed, which is linked to in the QuickStart Guide to trading, and suggests to list an auction at a minimum starting price you are willing to accept. Or, what is more recommended; simply list your trade listing as a ‘for sale’ with your asking price. You have more flexibility when listing a ‘for sale’ listing opposed to an auction, in a ‘for sale’ listing you can set your price and invite offers and then always reduce your price if there was no interest at your original asking price. Any item that is listed as an auction, the seller should uphold their word and sell at the final auction price to the applicable winning bidder. It is also not possible to list an auction on TSF if you have listed your items elsewhere.
Please complete any outstanding trades with @ali187 before 24th June 2021 (so by the end of 23rd June 2021 UK forum server time), when their account will then subsequently be closed.

I do love crowns! I carry an 1896 crown in my pocket every day as a bit of a good luck/fondling coin

I bought these from a local auction house and although a little worn they’re great examples of late Victoria Crowns.
Which, ironically, was the coin that planted the ‘seed’ of coin collecting and PM’s for me. Since then it’s been 20+ years since I’ve owned one of these.

Couldn’t resist. The only double sovereign in my collection but had to fill the gap. Looks lovely side by side. 1/2s and 1/4s are a little too small for me so will stick with the hand I have ♠️❤️♦️♣️

My SOTD Decimal Day 50p from Coin Connection. Really like the the design which makes a nice change to the usual dinosaurs and fictional characters. Slightly different finish to the standard gold and looks amazing in the hand.

Well done @Gibson96 us ‘millennials’ generation get a bad name as of late. Which I think, I might be wrong, is, anyone born between 1980-1996. So you’re just in the ‘club’. 😜
