As I said such scratches most of all caused when coin shipped without capsule or when capsule opened during shipping. Here is image of those lunars I am talking about with similar scratches. However, that possible only if capsule with coin is inside a box with a lot of free space. If you packed them well with bubble wrap which excludes such possibility, then it's possible only by coin swap by grader. I have never sent proof coins for grading and now I am sure never will. And yeah, I saw those mintages, only 115 coins, very rare and nice coin.

Thank you. I think you're probably right about waiting before grading if it was a coin swap.  I can't see how a staff member at PCGS would cause those hairlines.  The coin came out of original capsule and checked for any signs of hairlines after I bought it in 2021 and again just before carefully transferring it into a new coin flip.  Loads of bubble wrap for protection, usual due diligence before and after sending to PCGS for grading.
Sad, but at least I have one.  They're very rare in that size, so still incredibly lucky to have one.

Such a shame for PCGS and loss for you. Feel really sorry for you. If it was coin swap I don't think another coin would appear anytime soon. Grader who did swap just took good coin for his collection. Grading it right now could just expose him. If its not swap then grader accidentally or intentionally damaged the coin. Such a shame it is impossible to proof that you sent perfect coin and recover losses.
Btw, what capsule that coin had originally? I just took a look at coin image on pcgs and I saw such sort of scratches before. They obviously not appeared from wiping with a cloth. Once I got a proof lunar with opened capsule and it had similar scratches. Coin was sent with closed capsule, but during shipping capsule opened from vibration and coin fall from it inside the box.

Great idea but i'm a tad sceptical if its genuine tank armour as it looks rather thin, they would need to have a factory with presses to produce these from genuine armour and I dont think souvenirs are on their prority lists atm
good way for someone to make money out of suffering in my opinion, but thats just me
but they do need help...... brave brave people....

FabulousLunar got a reaction from Joshp in Milkspotting, worst you've seen?
I'm pretty sure that humid environment couldn't cause such milk spots. Especially so fast. I have some examples. One is long time ago, my father put .999 silver bar into tank with drinking water. That bar stayed like a year or more. It had rich brown toning. But nothing similar to milk spots. Something similar I did with silver coin. Coin was pretty damaged, basically just chunk of silver so I wanted to make experiment. I've put it into tank of water as well. 3 weeks and nothing. Then I put it into dishwashing machine(noticed, that silver spoon got very nice rich brown toning so I wanted to replicate similar toning on the coin) and same effect: nothing changed. And yes, silver spoon, which has rich brown toning. But I've never seen milk spots on old coins or silverware. So I'm pretty sure that milk spots caused by some chemistry from mint processing.

Some random 1oz silver coins from Sharps Pixley and I got this nice 2008 Kookaburra.
I’ve only ever had one Kookaburra before so this was a nice surprise. The finish is almost proof like.

Noticed that dragon on ebay. Seller has very high reputation with no negative feedback and lots of real coins on sale. However dragon in fake slab looks fake to me. Here is images and image of original perth mint coin from same seller in original slab. Difference can be clearly seen. Beware. Those fakes looks better each year.
