Royal Mail/Fail..."Dangerous Goods" Completely stupid

Recommended Posts

I had this happen to me also but it was resolved in a week.
I guess when a package is x-rayed it draws suspicion as to what could be inside.
Unfortunately with all that's going on around the world we all are greatly inconvenienced - e.g. checking-in at an airport.

@BackyardBullion , just spoke to some one who works there , it will probably be in mallusk  sorting office , sounds like human error , as in  , where it was sent from , couldn’t be arsed to check it properly , and just passed it on  as a problem/ dangerous goods ,  - so all problem items go to  mallusk , , and there isn’t that big of a back log , so should be faster than 8 -10 weeks

As I thought, lost/miss scanned. But I do believe it will rightfully turn up.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Royal Mail detours are becoming more common. On three occasions I've had items ordered from Poole end up at Edinburgh mail centre! - All Special Delivery as well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Afternoon all. When tracking shows “item retention” at Medway office, does this just mean it’s being held for a Mi day delivery or that it’s been flagged for something else? Thanks a lot

@JamesH

From my experience, that means the royal fail didn't get around to delivering your package and will do it next working day.

As an update to my "dangerous" package....

They royal mail don't know where it is.

Tracking has not been updated.

They literally can't tell me where it is.

Looks like this will end up being a claim but they want to wait a few more weeks before we initiate.

Total shambles.

As I thought ( lost ) I honestly believe the dangerous goods email is we fooled up but would rather not admit it.

As an aside, do you get actual worth ( selling price) back or just metal content price?

The cost to replace the items.

This is basically the cost of the silver, manufacturing and hallmarking costs.

When I sent it the content of the silver was worth about £2200, now it's actually more than £2500. So the chance of being able to get more than £2500 is probably pretty slim, but if I had been allowed to make a claim 3 weeks ago when I could have done at the earliest opportunity I would have been able to factor in the £150 hallmarking charges and some labour.

Now that silver is worth more that other additional costs take it way over £2500

If they come to me and say they won't pay because it's now worth more than £2500 I will flat out take them to court and fully kick the toys out the pram.

If we claim I will be expecting a full £2500 coming to me and then I will be asking for some additional compensation as goodwill to factor in the above. A shut me up fee if you like. They have been so abysmally awful and this has caused me significant stress.

We will see.

@BackyardBullion if it’s still in Northern Ireland I could find out for you ??? I know someone who works in the mallusk  sorting office ,  if it helps at all 👍

Well, considering the escalations team and the CEO office don't know I don't know if that's going to help!

They tell me they are waiting for the national returns centre to get back to them.

It's been 2 weeks and no reply from them yet...

Not great but there could be a silver lining... Perhaps your claims go through and then just randomly your parcels end up found and delivered 🤞🏽🤞🏽

So was it diverted as "dangerous" an then lost/stolen, or was it never actually diverted? If it was logged as diverted, is there any evidence from later in the chain to show it really was?

It does all sound a little fishy with other reports of items being deemed "dangerous" and for destruction, then miraculously delivered when that was queried. One wonders if bad actors with jobs within Royal Mail could be abusing internal procedures re dangerous goods to mask their "appropriations".

Ffs.

None of that makes any sense.

They say they have it but it needs looked over as it may contain prohibited goods etc and then come back and say it’s went missing….that stinks of internal corruption.

Shocking 😮 Sorry to hear this.

Surely Edinburgh assay office should look into this as they were the ones who dispatched to you??

Hope you get the support from them🤞
