Surely Edinburgh assay office should look into this as they were the ones who dispatched to you??

Hope you get the support from them🤞

I have little to no hope of this.

They have strung me along for well over 3 weeks with them saying they have been searching high and low for it. They even (supposedly) had someone check manually through crates of packages at the dangerous goods/national returns centre.

Nothing.

I have just had confirmation that I will be getting a £2500 payment. I will also be getting £27.89 in postage refund and a £50 goodwill payment to "Restore my confidence in the service they provide"

Totally crazy.

I asked for a £250 goodwill payment to split the difference on the £500 in losses I am facing from the difference in price of silver and the other losses from hallmarking/postage etc.

The CEO office reply was simply, No.

It would seem they have chosen "Trial by combat"

Crazy that if the Royal Mail finds my package they could just sell the silver for £2800 spot price and be in profit over £200

It has happened before...

Would not put it past them.

If this happens eventually there will be some very strongly worded videos produced and a number of solicitors letters sent me thinks.

This has happened to us....had empty boxes returned to us that had clearly been deliberately damaged to remove the contents.  I sent several e-mails to the complaint department and each reply was the same.....make a claim.  They would not entertain the idea a member of their staff could possibly steal it...i was told it is all automated.  Well the pen that was used to gouge the box open clearly was not automated!!!  We did fight the fact they were not going to cover the excess charges and the postage, that they were not going to pay for at first as i was told they delivered the parcel to me.  They did in the end send a second payment to cover both so keep complaining.

One thing you have not mentioned is your time and effort in making those bars.  You should invoice for that as a separate claim.

Yeah, I mean if you factor that in then its a lot more.

They won't entertain any additional claims, they have made that quite clear.

Sorry to hear this. Royal Mail used to be close to 100% reliable. Sign of the times. The UK is not what it used to be.

Welcome back 😆

I have thought about challenging them with a complaint to the Postal Review Panel or indeed the postal redress service.

The difficulty is that The Royal Mail (and they know this) have done everything by the book.

They have paid the appropriate amount and they have also added a goodwill payment. That ticks all the boxes that they could possibly need to to avoid legal scrutiny.

The "right" thing to do and doing what is expecetd of them are two very different things.

It is a dreadful response. Not to mention you are quite a big customer.

I suggest that the next batch is hand delivered to Edinburgh, and you have a cheeky mini-break while you wait 😇

Technically, alcohol is a solution..

'It [socialism] poses a growing threat, however unintentional, to the freedom of this country, for there is no freedom where the State totally controls the economy. Personal freedom and economic freedom are indivisible. You can’t have one without the other. You can’t lose one without losing the other.'

The house always wins

They have people working there who's job it is to palm you off in the most legal way possible.

I will hold any excitement until it's in my possession and contents have been checked.

Good news I suppose!

Exactly how most of these case's turn out. Your far better off this way, time saved and extra spot price etc. Just a shame they didn't pay out first then find it ( would have made up for the stress )

8 ‘Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it? 9 And when she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbours together and says, “Rejoice with me; I have found my lost coin.” 10 In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.’
