Apparently it's because of this...

You can't make this up.

Total nonsense. They are selling coins with the Queens’ (Vic and Lilibet) as well as countless Kings’ effigies on all over their website. Bonkers response.

Well @BackyardBullion has made it clear that he’s not going to give the Mint any more of his business and they’ve tried to woo him with a list of offerings including The Police music legends coin.

The Mint are aware of his decision and The Police’s “Can’t Standing Losing You” should be playing in their heads. I’m sure he’s not the only customer they’ll lose.

Own it and Love it.

(With thanks to 9x883 for the suggestion)

Here is an update on my goodwill gesture.

I didn't particularly want any of the coins from this list (basically all the dross they can't sell - future cancellations I think)

So, I asked if I can get a different 2 Oz coin.

Having looked around at the best potential seller for recouping potential losses I decided on the City views 2 Oz silver proof London. Went for £250 on eBay! Small win...

Until a few minutes later when I get this...

I must admit I quite liked the idea of the Monarchs coin series. Also many of the designs hit the mark.

Also the Monarchs in my view was a far better series compared to some of the other stuff the RM came up with. I can’t stand the legends of music series (waste of space). Some of the 007 coins were nice designs but it’s a movie series and surely a series of coins featuring the monarchy over time is better suited the the RM?

It will be interesting what these coins go for now that they have stopped the series I’ll be keeping an eye on them, a few are already on the secondary market.

Kind Regards,

I have been handled differently - I got offered only a 1oz silver. 🫤 Oh well! How much to cry over this?!

I haven’t been handled at all🤣 I haven’t bothered complaining tbh. I m not sure it’s even worth it. I don’t think there are any royal mint products I want! Sod ‘em.

im not committing to boycotting the GE series or sovereigns though 😞

Aaaahhh😉

Get it, sell it in eBay.

I am boycotting buying directly from the royal mint again. It would take a very big change (probably in management and 180⁰ direction change) to get me back.

If there are coins I would like to collect and/or buy then I will just buy from a 3rd party or on the secondary market. Recent history would suggest I will be able to source them cheaper than issue price with this method!

Oh yes that’s a given that it wouldn’t come from the actual mint directly ever again. The whole thing stinks. I received my 2oz gilded 125th anniversary proof from Perth Mint today and what a stunner it is. Just shows how it’s not hard to get these things right when your organisation is set up right.

I find RM customer services extremely tedious to deal with at the best of times!

Aaaahhh😉

@BackyardBullion have you had any raise on the 2oz silver City View?

Possibly something from Tristan da Cunha range? The ones Michael Bueurk  offers for £99 and you can pay in 4 monthly instalments.

It's not all bleak. A certain company that makes their own sovereigns, not to be named but many can probably guess, contacted me today asking if I wanted to become an affiliate advertiser for them...

@BackyardBullion for what it’s worth I’ve emailed my account manger, said it’s really bad PR what the RM has done, and said it going to make their job’s impossible when they call me up to offer me the next coin in a series as I will need guarantees that they can fulfil the series before I can commit.

Guarantees they will never give.

This isn't going to be the first coin series to be cancelled. Tudor beasts I think is on the chopping block.

So glad I didn't buy into the Tudor Beasts series. I feel the Queen's Beasts series was a better series anyway. Just my uneducated 2pence worth

I am glad I stopped after the first 4

I still don't think we should be buying direct. We should boycott them and buy from resellers.
The same as "Go woke, get broke!"

I don't, I've given up on the Mint-direct orders over a year ago due to sloppy quality. Well unless they have a pricing faux pas

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Here are 10 reasons I will never buy direct again.

What gets me is the nonchalant attitude to it all.

To me it's akin to commercial suicide. Like deciding that, because you can, you increase prices 10 fold.
