Even put the price up on sold out coins

piedfort has gone up from a release price of £1185 to £1280 and the quintuple from £2635 to £2900

I think anyone buying one of these won’t notice another £100 pound or so!🤔😁

This is a common thing I’ve noticed for sold out coins, especially special releases, where the RM updates the values match market prices.

I don’t think it’s indicative of pricing going forward.

We’ll see…

Royal Mint are not the only site that has the coins, you could try some other websites 😉

I got in with only 2000 people ahead of me and had to take a work call, by the time I got back to it I had timed out and now have:

Ouch, would not mind but I am only queueing as I told a guy from the forum who is from Italy I would try and get a couple of bits for him :(

Other sites seem to be gummed up also. Though I know one that is not.😁

Not seen that  very interesting. So it looks like lets mint as many as people want I think. They do not make themselves very clear, to my mind anyway, as to if there will be a mintage limit or not. Or do I read it as no limit on

the coins specifically mentioned? And me wearing my cynical hat if deliveries not expected until late december why part with ones money beforehand?

Thats how I read it but that last bit about checking the coin before purchasing is curious

It’s really not that confusing…

Instead of having an upfront mintage limit, they’re essentially taking orders until Dec 31. How many ever orders they have then will be the limit that they mint.

There is “no limit” as to how many orders they will accept until Dec 31.

Last bit of cynicism today are the quoted prices about right for proof coins being roughly 75% or more above spot price?

Let's face it..... There is worldwide appeal for these and it would be unfair if only a handful of people were able to obtain these first coins to feature such a historic event. In a way I think it's right that as many people as possible are able to obtain them within a certain timeframe. There will be time to make a more exclusive coin for investors later on. Like the proof sovereign's for example. These right now are obviously intended for everybody as a momento so everyone can have a chance at owning a bit of history. I give credit to the royal mint for thinking of those that otherwise would be frozen out by flippers.

You make the mint sound like a philanthropic organisation instead of the commercial business they are evidenced by the production of 5kg proof coin.

They're most definitely business first lol. But I think they know as well as us that if they made a limited amount of them and sold them at retail price..... Within hours they'd be resold for 10x the original price. That'll lose them money and make flippers a fortune at the same time as freezing out the ones who just want to own a coin with an historic first.

I know I should not be but am looking at the 5oz gold jobby. Limited to 300. Am not looking to flip it but do not want to waste money being a newbie is this a wise investment?

Someone else here is trying to flip a 5oz proof at the moment.  You might make a big gain on it, but it's a lot of dosh in one hit and the other party is having some liquidity problems flogging a coin for £14,000.  It's a lot of eggs to put in one basket.

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

If you like it and want to keep it then it won't ever be this price again. I'd say go for it. It's a keeper not a flipper for you.

Definitely could be a hard sale in the future.... The cost could price a lot of folks out in the future. But it's not an issue if you have the money and want it to keep.
