Unofficial Royal Mint Release Schedule 2022

Since most of us are always wondering what the next Royal Mint release is going to be, I spent some time scouring the Gazette and came up with this list.

It’s not the best and may not be comprehensive, but I will fill in the dates as and when we get information from any of our sources (either share here or PM me if you have inside info but don’t wish to be named; I won’t out you!)

If any of the mods wish to update with release dates, that’s fine too.

I have tried to exclude the ones that have already been released - but as I don’t follow some of the less popular ones (like Winnie the Pooh) I may have listed some of these.  If so, let me know and I will update the post to delete them.

No specific gazette entry.

Good work, which is interesting, and may be useful for many for planning and budgetting purposes. Besides which, stuff like is is nice to know.

The Privy Council / London Gazette notices rarely, if ever, give any release dates, but some casual reader of this topic / thread may be misled, albeit unintentionally, into believing the dates mentioned are sourced from them.

I seem to remember the Royal Mint published an intended schedule of release dates for some of the series, and it may be good to cite this source.

The RM does also provide some release date guidance to distributors under embargo. Parties to this privileged information should not share this information. I and @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer, for example often do receive embargoed information. When we do, we always follow strict ethical standards in respecting the embargo. This can be quite frustrating as we often try to forecast potential designs, prices, release dates, or other elements. Once we receive embargoed information, this obviously affects our ability to guess. I am aware that much of this embargoed information gets leaked, usually by newer or smaller dealers, which is doubly frustrating because we continue to respect the embargo. It is rather like participating in a race fairly while other deliberately false start, yet don't get penalised. At the same time, we might be suspected of breaching embargo. This has happened in the past, and we find ourselves having to expend energy and effort defending our innocence, which makes it triply frustrating. Once anyone has leaked embargoed information publicly, I believe it would be perfectly in order for you to republish it, as you would not have been a party to the confidentiality.

Of course, I am well aware that you quite rightly stated in your title "Unofficial", but suggest it might be worth editing to indicate where the forecast dates are your estimates, or specified by a particular source.

I know this creates more work for you, but just thik how many beers you will be owed by grateful TSF members!

@LawrenceChard- Thanks for this feedback.  I have updated my post to cite my sources.  The sources of “inside info” are a bit of a no brainer now since a little googling would reveal them at this point.  I’ve mentioned that the sources are dealers taking preorders.

Well done, glad my feedback helped.

I was not suggesting you named any embargo-breakers, and suggesting a Google search is sensible.

The next stage is to start taking bets on when delivery dates will be!

I can well imagine the conundrum you and other dealers find yourselves in when smaller or newer dealers, or individuals with inside connections, leak embargoed information.

The good thing is (I suppose) that although the race may seem unfair, it probably does not affect ethical dealers in a major way when they have to wait until official release day to reveal information.  Or does it?  Do such dealers lose business to those dealers who leak embargoed info?

Personally, poking around for this info is simply a fanciful activity - to see if there’s something worth looking forward to.  On the practical side it helps me plan and save, if I know I really want to obtain something for my collection.  I think most people come into this second category.  The desire to know what’s coming and when is driven by the need to prepare financially.

In the end I respect the fact that the RM has their own approach to advertising and marketing, and I also appreciate that dealers must play along due to contractual obligations.  Luckily I’m just a lay person who’s not bound by any confidentiality agreements, so I can freely play devil’s advocate in my own impish way. 😈

Is that 2030 or 2080?

I swear if I stare at it, it’s looking like a 3D illusion where the first 0 seems to have a white border that’s masking an 8.

It’s supposed to be 2030.

I know some people like to buy new RM releases to pass onto their grandchildren but it would be nice to see them first. 😆

Delivery by 2080 and I think most of us here would be long gone.

@westminstrel also a new £1 coin is due in 2023, saw this in a newspaper.

Oh yes.  I forgot about this - I think there’s a topic here where this is being discussed.  I’ll find the gazette entry and add it to the list.  Thanks!

I wonder if there will be a 2022 gold SIXPENCE for Weddings and Christmas?

The 2022 Wedding Sixpence has been available for some time now.

It’s a bit strange that now even the 22 carat 5.59 gms sixpence coins have been priced the same as the 24 carat 6.19 gms gold coin. 🧐

The Great Engravers  is due late 2022

Oh my goodness really!? 👀

I’ve heard conflicting information about this series… one being that the RM is “skipping” 2022 and will continue this series in 2023.
