Help? Seller AWOL after paying.

@MintageSeller , I'm sorry this has happened to you. This behaviour is very rare on the forum and, whilst I'd like to give the seller the benefit of the doubt, I find the non-contact aspect inexcusable.

He has taken your money and he must make reparation no matter what the 'emergency'.

As per the rules, are you aware that Chris and The Silver Forum are not responsible for any trade on the forum?

Good luck, I hope for the best 👍

Agree with Roy, I suppose my prompt to inform Chris was to ensure that no one else gets burned I.e the guy pops on tommorow sells something people pay and don't recieve

First time I have seen this on the forum, wishing you all the best with it

Indeed.

I would name, not necessarily to shame, but to let other members know.

It's possible that the seller is in trouble and there is a member here who might be buddies with him but quite unaware of the situation. This member could get in contact directly with him through email or mobile.

Really is an awkward one, say nothing and others are at risk. say something and we all look like heartless fools should there have been a tragedy ( only a tragedy could explain lack of contact )

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

This is a very unfortunate and difficult situation. I hope the member involved in indeed alright, and there is at least some sort of justification for this.

In my 2 years or so on this forum this is the first such incident I can recall. I suppose given the sheer volume of trading that goes on here then that alone speaks volumes for this community.

I have only made 20 or so transactions (buying & selling) on here, each one flawless, and I certainly wouldn't let this incident lessen my confidence in trading on here. I hope any new(ish) members reading this thread are not put off by it.

I can't help but think there's a genuine reason. He has 16 feedback (positive, I'd imagine), and did state there'd been an emergency before disappearing. Also, if someone has decided they're gonna burn their good feedback and 'do a runner' then I can't help but think they'd do it for more than £95. Many of us pay thousands here.

I also think it's difficult to say what is and isn't acceptable in terms of time periods and replying if there has been a genuine emergency. There are so many potential genuine reasons that I can think of and many aren't pleasant! Death, coma, emergency travel for a loved one etc. Depending on the circumstances, a relatively low value transaction here could be the very last thing on his/her mind. I'm not trying to excuse it in any way, but when weighing everything up, it's very odd.

I am guessing the owner of this forum has his real name and address as a paying member, but I'm not sure under what circumstances that data can be legitimately accessed. If something really tragic has happened, it's highly possible we'll never hear from him again - I know my family members wouldn't necessarily have a clue how to access this forum or know what purchases or sales I'd been involved in.

In my experience here, the buyer pays money upfront, and provides their name and address. Responsibility is heavily weighted towards the buyer and I can't help but think it'd be a good faith gesture for the seller to immediately provide their full name and address on receipt of the funds. At least if anything tragic ever happens, a good old fashioned letter could be sent to the address.

Ladies & Gentleman, I have decided I will be closing this thread for the greater good if i can figure it out aha. I think everyone has provided positive advice and I do agree. It just can be difficult at times to swallow any loss, especially bullion.  Cheers all

Really hope it all works out in the end for you @MintageSeller

@morezone @trp @Lr103 are one of you fine folk able to close the thread at MintageSellers request as per above?
