  1. I'd say go for it, especially the pre 1920's. It is a good way to learn about silver and how I started in PM. The chances of acquiring fake metal are reduced and give you a feel for the metal should you wish to progress to other forms, they are beautiful ( in my opinion ), will only get rarer. I have done trade with them, though admittedly this I guess is limited to who you know. Unless you are VAT registered just understand this is all in the premium others have explained or transacting so much you get hit with Capital Gains. I am more of the camp that this will grow in trade as people give up on cash and are duped into the all seeing CBDC. In the mean time just have fun with it, and good luck!
  2. Does this not prove that gold and silver are money and fiat money is a means of control. Look at the hoard found turn up, "boating accidents" have been happening for a long time. With precious metals you at least definable weight and grade which the authorities can define. I have had problems where identity is required as now have an expired passport, and a old pink driving licence. This has given companies problems as I have no obligation to have a photo ID and that is what is being pushed for by stealth rather than full out legislation. A bit off topic but if you are a high up or want to launder money yourself you would be best using the art market. Another good way to pay a nice sum to politician or the like is a book deal, who really reads all these memoires?
  3. They look great. If you went for a finer pinch you could add silicone covers they use for tweezers to get the grip!
  4. From memory I think I got 2 for £5, but I do a lot of markets and sales buying and selling.
  5. It is really just another tool in the box. Its beauty is the simplicity and size and not sure I could think of an improvement. I am looking for another as a gift and am not paying the prices I have seen them at, for an item similar to something one would get out of a cereal packet!
  6. Just thought of my testing equipment, how about some pingers!
  7. What fantastic venture and some imaginative ideas. Could be a challenge to my 35mm film tubes!
  8. where it's headed.
  9. Sorry not related to gold but Ted Butler, I believe is best on JPM and the silver market, he's been at it decades.
  10. Follow the money, never lost only transferred.
  11. What will he be made out to be worth, if his will is made public?
  12. I have had the argument with royal mail long ago about worth and value on a claim, which I could not get them to understand. I said I may have a large receipt for an item bought decades ago that only has sentimental value or may be sending a Rembrandt worth thousands only having paid 10s of pounds. There has to be a better way than how they are operating.
  13. Sorry to hear your predicament. It has crossed my mind lately that these parcels are not being dealt with correctly when delivered and had them just posted through the letter box. Asked for no signature, and provided no signature for the items you recently sent to me. They have admitted "removing the item from the network", I'd say raise a police complaint (get a crime number) as good measure as the sender would have stated the item was not a prohibited item. It did cross my mind to the detection of drugs as has been mentioned, but what ever the excuse you'd think they would inform the police on such matters. I have bought silver bullets an wondered if scanned they would be pick up as a prohibited item. As an an additional point to SD though know this is not relevant to your case, a paper signature ought to be sought on delivery not those stupid screens, if you are asked for a signature at all..
  14. A super big thank you to @James32 for this little haul, and a few added pieces which so kind despite my bank being a nightmare transferring funds. Another great asset to TSF community.
  15. Who remembers this on notes? and anyone idea when it was last able to be applied to sterling?
  16. Yes, great answer. I'd like to know this question from a lot of new member and some old timers as well actually. Sure you journey here will be profitable. Ady

    But You Need ID!

This might be as easy as you think. The electoral register is not easily accessed here. It has been removed from all libraries and only accessible by appointment at the central library.
  20. Until the world works out what curreny is we are in limbo, banks hold gold, btc is a very hard accounting system. End of the day prisoners work out a currency be it a jaffa cake, loo roll, to a nub end. The big players know gold is money, hence JPM quote on gold & credit. I see gold becoming some kind of anchor and making good on the currency printers.
  21. Me too, but have an old paper one. Nightmare when trying to get through KYC. No formal ID card but they inch by inch driving the sheep to accept digital ID.
  22. Double bluff them, everyone will be thinking what everyone else is thinking!
  23. Not so much received, but purchased from a house clearance market. £4 the lot along with a few other items. Victoria & St George Riflers Spoons - Sterling Silver - Birmingham - WD, total weight 52g
