Royal Mint Queen (band) Coin - 9am

Recommended Posts

Ok, I have a theory on this but must warn you I am not known for them.

1st

RM launch 500 of a given coin. The system is set to sell 500 units no more. The orders are put through the system and every order is reduced to 1 unit. So they have spares.

2nd

People have returned coins that are not quite right eg the Queen 1oz. So they go to melt.

We see comments on here about coins being for sale almost in a flash sale days after they are marked as sold out.

RM has commited to say 500, 1000 whatever number of coins in a release so they have to uphold that. The coins from 1 and replacement perfect coins from 2 are the coins that show up in the flash sales so to speak. They meet their legally required release numbers.

Answers on a postcard please 😁

B

EDIT.  From the moment coins go on sale we are dealing with a computer and a logrithum forget the human factor.........

Lot selling misaligned not stating it which is so wrong.

Also the misprint on the coa saw one yesterday for over 1k, laughable in my opinion

When does an error start and an imperfect coin begin. Would love to know the grading companies opinion. Would they acknowledge it as an error or a “bad” coin with a reduced grade. Keep your errors London CC !!! 😂

Indeed. I'm a tad disappointed NGC recognise the different hat colours on the 2018 snowman.

Just curious: Do we know which bands will be featured on the forthcoming Music Legends coins?

If Sex Pistols and/or Joy Division will be among them, I'd stay awake all night to be in time for ordering :P   Otherwise... I don't know...

If i am not mistaken, i think Elton John is next on the list!

we saw Elton John named on Gazette page for a new coin comes out this year, so you can maybe expect your big names of UK music Beatles, Stones, The Who, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and a token offering for the ladies to save the PC backlash from feminists & "all white males of society are evil & need to be killed" leaning lefty crew , so probably a Spice Girls coin to

It depends if the bands have to give the go ahead for the coins, if they do I’m not sure some of those bands need the money or crave the attention to put their names to it

Very poor from the Mint imo if they forgot to put a purchase limit on the system and/or a notification on the product listing (I didn't see one myself which is why I asked at the time) and have retroactively cancelled multiple purchases. I would think it's far more likely that, than they are making sure as many people as possible are happy. That will absolutely suck for rock fans who are new to the Mint and are used to working together to ensure concert tickets, because somewhat ironically with those once you have the confirmation email for enough tickets you know they are in the bag.

I was pretty late with my order for one, I hope that does not also put me firmly into the 'might not have enough stock/will be sent returns only' range, I would be gutted

There was absolutely no stated limit at launch. I was on there refreshing and saw them as soon as they went live. I loaded the page - checked for limits and placed my order. Having looked back at it today there still isn't a limit stated on the page for the sold out coin.

I remember your reply to me at the time (thank you and the others who kindly replied), I was most confused because I saw the mintage, couldn't believe it, and then couldn't see a limit. It's not fair to do it retrospectively imo but of course they can't legally mint more than 500 so as usual the genuine customers get stuffed.

:(

Could it be Blondie possibly? Bowie I am pretty sure is likely. The Beatles are certs imo or they never would have started this Rock Royalty range. Blimey though, just think of the number of limited edition BUNCS for Beatles covers, and Floyd!

It all depends on various rights and how the contracts stand. May and Taylor not only approved this one, they endorsed it. Deacon would have had a say too as he signs off everything but wants nothing more to do with the band, so is a silent partner but still crucial.

Don't I know it. I did write this at 10:56 am Monday morning. Sadly not the first time I've seen the Royal Mint do this

Will they do the same with Great engravers series as well? As they now creating precedent. Who wouldn't want another 2 Oz gold and make quick £20000.

I am not sticking up for them in any way but the fact is they can do it because it is written in their terms and conditions..............

I don’t think it will fetch as much as the una, for sure they will increase the mintage. But why not make an una proof 1oz? With a high mintage at a stupid price of 3k. The royal mint are bound to ruin something good, it’s a matter of time.

Yeah I know where you are coming from and know you're not sticking up for them. We've been here before though with other releases so this isn't new which is exactly why I predicted it could happen with this coin. You can't trust any order you place until it ships and even then you never know what the quality is going to be like when item(s) do show up.
