Today I received one and a half sovereigns from HGM. I swooped during the 1% premium special the other day.

Just emphasises the difference in finish you see these days

DrDime you can correct the whitebalance on that picture, which appears brassy, with a free app "faststone",

it looks good, just doesn't look like silver.

1997 ELIZABETH 22CT GOLD HALF SOVEREIGN

Took a bit of a gamble as pics were not good but coin turned up this am and all looks good.

I'm no expert but it looks in good condition to me. Paid £132.00 inc delivery....is this reasonable for this or a bit ott ?

As  I was posting the last photo, this arrived by evening delivery from Arshi

 

1 x 2008 silver Britannia and 2 x 2010 silver Britannias to add to my date run  (just need the 2009 and 1998 to complete the set)  and a 1904 sovereign. Wait for a bus and three (?) come along at the same time.

it's a proof for certain, looks in good nick. price probably top side. assume only coin without case/coa.

Also whilst I was there I put money towards some of his upcoming silver rounds that he is getting made. A run of 750 only based on mythical creatures. Saw the artwork & liked it immediately. The first in a four coin series.

Placed it onto a 2oz beast for comparison as they are close to the same price each.

Why such a low grade? 2016 have graded very high in all sizes. Is there a visual discrepancy that can be detected with the naked eye?

Go to the 7 minute mark and watch from there "more than a couple of flecks under a x5 magnification.........."

 

Oh and it is a highly rare coin...population of 2 at NGC whereas the 70 has a population of over 3,000....lol ! Dirty is the new cool....

Yes the 70's are much more common )) and if the 67 is boring at some stage it's easy to put it in an air tite and sell it for a nice profit.

I am still not 100% sure why it got a 67. But clearly NGC saw some minor imperfections.
