What link was that? - describe rather than post.
There are advantages to becoming a paid member - there are some areas you cannot otherwise access, you have more private messaging capacity, you can see the items that are put up for sale as soon as they are advertised. However there is plenty accessible with the basic membership. Certainly if you intend to buy coins / bars in any reasonable amounts it would be worthwhile picking up a paid membership. You will generally find keen prices and you won't become a victim of the scammers on ebay.

Notice one of the subheadings in the article "Gold could be due for an explosive rally in 2022"
The writer is so sure of himself gold COULD be in for an 'explosive' rally some time in 2022.
Now decide how sure the writer is.
With precious metals it is about continuous stacking - one day it will overwhelm fiat. We don't know which day or as far as the writer of the Zero Hedge piece which year - but it will happen.
BIS options expiration this afternoon and the last full day before Basel III kicks in.
ps these are the insights you get when you become a Grand Master - you realise you actually know less than you thought you did, except of course conspiracy theories.

A lot of fake coins would be thrown into a field which probably explains why so many are found metal detecting 🧐
But I would check any silver / gold that you purchase and be on the lookout for fakes because there are so many of every type including bars being mass produced including Roman , medieval coinage right up to 2022

Maguire said yesterday that he is trying to source 100 tonnes of silver for immediate delivery. He is coming back to the UK after filming the silver delivery in the Kinesis vault in Liechtenstein.
Says that the refinery they have been dealing with in Russia only has 70 tonnes available for the rest of the year and that is for everyone. You cannot see this on a chart of paper contracts. The price of silver should and would be shooting up but the paper traders will follow the lines and sell even if there is no silver left in the world. That is why the COMEX metal contracts were created in the 1970's. It was when US citizens could own gold again after Nixon ended the convertibility of the dollar into gold. It was to keep them away from physical - to give them a means to speculate and not have the gold. This is the reason for the likes of the SLV and GLD ETF's. To keep them away from the metal and keep the metal inside the banking system. The COMEX and the LBMA paper spot market gives banking cartel the ability to control the price of gold. Gold is the foundation of the monetary system.  If the gold price runs away it is the end of the USD and the end of the Western financial system as we have come to know it. This is why the East is de-dollarising and creating their own system which will be based on gold. This is why Russia and China have something like 40 000 tonnes of gold each. They intend to go back to a gold standard. You don't amass those quantities of gold for fun and b/c it is shiny.
If gold runs away, then that means control and been broken and silver will run but silver is quick and will run much faster. i expect the gold silver ratio to fall when this happens and get down to at least 20.

sixgun got a reaction from StackerCollector in Selling on the forum..............and HMRC
i would say the vast majority of people here are not trading - they aren't buying stuff to sell on. They collect bits and pieces, they change their minds, they rearrange their collections.
So there is the £1000 turnover of online sales / year / person.
There is also the sale of chattels - https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/chattels-and-capital-gains-tax-hs293-self-assessment-helpsheet/hs293-chattels-and-capital-gains-tax-2019
Chattels are your personal items - it could be furniture, jewellery, coins, bars clothes, paintings, pots and pans.....

Now read this carefully - HMRC says you 'need' (need - since when would i need) to declare GAINS on the disposal of chattels where the proceeds are more than £6000 AND the chattel is not exempt from CGT.
So let's run over an imaginary situation were as i remember all your coins are UK coins and so exempt from CGT. At that point you can go back to sleep.
Plus of course if you are also acting on behalf of your wife, mother, father, brother, blah blah for some of the sales and then you can lump in their allowances for chattels.
We must also remember your CGT allowance of £12,300 and as always you are selling on behalf of family members as well.
Really when you start thinking outside the box and not like a slave for the vast major of members who are not traders there should be no need to be paying tax to Her Majesty's thieves and pirates. So you sell as Jim Smith an ordinary bloke who isn't doing this as a trade, business - just a hobby that all his family is involved in.
ps - Now i am reading further on - as we see HMRC say you need to declare gains from the sale of A chattel which realised more than £6000 and was subject to CGT. It says a chattel which means ONE chattel. It says on the webpage that if you sell a set of chattels, the set counts as A chattel.
So if you sold a set of coins as one item it would count if it was more than £6000. So if you sold a chattel (or set this week) and then some other chattel next week these would be separate chattels and it resets the counter. Seems to me unless gold goes to the Moon no-one here who isn't trading and we aren't traders here - we're hobbyists, it is going to be hard to breach the chattel threshold and we can forget this matter.
