Toshunya86 got a reaction from augur in 20 Franc Coins Of The LMU
Hello
About the non-restrike rooster :
From 1899 to 1905 they have DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE
From 1906 to 1914 the coins have LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ following the 1905 law about separation of the ( catholic ) Church and the state . This is the secular ( and masonic ) motto of the French Republic which is still ongoing today.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1905_French_law_on_the_Separation_of_the_Churches_and_the_State
Restrike rooster :
they are called Pinay restrike ; that was the name of the minister of the economy. They were produced between 1951 and 1960 and were given years between 1907 and 1914. They can be recognized because they are usually uncirculated and have a slightly different tone. They all have LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ
Hope this helps

Another animal added, but this one is a piece of art. Weighs over 600grams sterling silver. 20p for scale. Seller said he has more so am hoping he will bring them in.
Has a sculptor signature so will research it.

Sometimes there are major benefits to working with refiners. This was scrapped in and I picked it up close to spot. 5p for scale

Chuffed to bits. Cant stop looking at this beautiful coin and seeing how the light plays on the surface. Just a lovely day to collect silver just for the hell of it. Many thanks @PapaLazarou for such a totally perfect specimen.

Today I received a Shilling and Florin from @ChardsCoinandBullionDealer (great customer service btw)
Unfortunately it's a present, I'd like to keep it myself.

I'm afraid this is the last of my roubles, the last one I sold was on the Coin Cabinet Auction on Sunday. Ended up buying more Shield-back Sovereigns.

I assume a lot were melted down after the geopolitical landscape changed in the early 20th century? Makes it even more historic. I am amazed regular people don't know about this 'precursor' to the Euro.

Not sure if we have featured finnish 20 Markkaa yet; as all eastern european ‘LMU’ coins these carry more of a premium.
maybe @Xander can post pics of his 7 1/2 Roubles?

Hi @daca @MrTTI was the one selling to @Lea79
I don't have any now in stock but let me know in PM how much you can pay for that and I will try to find you one
Mr TT be careful because catawiki shows the price without the commission I think .

Napoleon AN12 Essai/Pattern 1/4 Franc in silver - smaller than a 5p so will have to go in a slab so I don't lose it!

Well if I had the same amount of money to spare, I would rather buy a US $10 Indian since I only have the Cuban version & also a beautiful 1922 Gold Certificate. I had a chance to get a 50 Franc piece very close to spot when it was about mid $1400s range , but I failed and bought a 40 Franc instead.

and it s not an ideological thing , i just do not like when coins have a bit colored and the rest not colored.

Although it is the most common LMU gold, I finally added a plain head Napoleon III 20 franc piece slightly below spot(299 euros & 1% Ebay bucks). I'm not interested at adding more in today's gold price, but willing to get a plain-head 5 franc gold to complete my set.

Another page of Kennedy’s completed. 12 received today from an eBay sale. Even with postage and tax the total worked out at just under £9 a coin. The premium is high but this is a long haul hold stack and if these are ever sold I am hopeful to get more than £9 a coin anyway!

Early Swiss 20 Franc with Libertas in mint state; pre Vreneli (which is referred to by @BackyardBullion as “Swiss Miss’)
The inspiration in terms of physiognomy seems to be Liberty from the Morgan Dollar but with Edelweiss in the laurel wreath.
