I have no real idea when I would stop buying gold. I bought at under €1000 once, now I'm buying at over €1500 - I'm telling myself every Euro spent on gold is an Euro saved.

Just graded & on their way back from NGC… Those Libs are a nightmare to get a 70 🙈. Quite a few will be up for sale once they are back.. No idea of the value of the 2018 reverse proof set RP69, any help gratefully received.

I wouldn't worry about silver too much and concentrate or yourself and loved ones🙏🙏

As long as you sell privately you should get somewhere close to market value for whatever item(s) you sell, and so although buying Kilo bars might bring your cost per oz down, it may not make a great deal of difference to your end result when selling. That's just my take on things though. Maybe others will have different views to consider, like selling large quantities and timing.
I couldn't help but notice the end of your comment. Not sure what to say other than I do hope for the best for you mate.

Some really good points and well explained, thanks to everyone
One part that we can control (myself included) is to buy lower premium silver to pull down the overall %'s in the stack and also to avoid buying new silver which has 20% on it.  If I can find several kilos of 2nd hand bars at < 8% over spot that will help bring down the overall averages for sure!  I also like the idea of adding more vintage silver coins with lower premiums but worry they will be difficult to liquidate back to cash sometime after they are inherited after I die next year.

    Hi to the forum,

i'm new here, i found thanks a google search, i would like to do some silver staking, i managed to find 1 kg bar via my local bank, but i guess perhaps for a better re-selling option would be better smaller weight bars, even if i will pay more per gr/oz, anyone can suggest a reliable website in EU that i get buy them perhaps with free shipping? or if you have an other suggestion.

    Thanks

Spotted or not, basic common bullion coins are priced with quite a spread depending on where they are sold, when and the last minute ( eBay panic buyers - sometimes but not always ).
Usually a clean coin will attract a slightly higher price than a marked one but not always; maybe within the difference between 1st and 2nd class postage.
As for special edition and proofs - personally I wouldn't want to pay anything much over regular bullion, so yes the premium can be lost forever.
I had multiple collections of proof Canadian fine silver coins, all certified with fancy box etc., but ended up selling for scrap.
Originally I planned to hold for a long time believing a later generation would see the rarity and history but once the spots appeared that killed it for me.
I now avoid all proof premium silver coins for this very reason.
Trying to remove milkiness with an eraser - impossible to avoid surface damage and fine scratches that will show up but who cares if it is just common bullion ?
A dull, stained Maple or Phillie is an eyesore and is really only worth its weight at spot to a dealer so give it a buff and at least have it looking "precious", nice and shiny !
I have cleaned milk stains by re-polishing the surface using jewellers rouge and a Dremel but if the coin is not highly polished to start with - i.e. a satin finish you will change its appearance which would be very noticeable.
Anything numi or semi numi LEAVE WELL ALONE if you are contemplating selling at a later date as it could loose a lot of its premium if touched.

I just ventured on this silver stacking route just in case this country goes in to ape terrible. I tried to research but man it is so confusing.
My purpose is to gather as much silver to sell not to collect. I see a bunch of different prices on an ounce of silver with different decorations on it which confuses me on what to buy.  I plan to buy 1 ounce bars but idk what to choose. there is so many variations.

Niue Leonardo Da Vinci / Icons of Inspiration, second issue. Not the same allmost proof finish like Galileo, but still a great coin and  propably the nicest Liberty ever been on a modern coin.

They made the silver and gold ounces have the same diameter, so the silver are quite thick and the gold are quite thin.

My impression is that over the last couple of years, silver got hyped up and dealers are taking advantage of that. If by plan or opportunity I will not try to guess.
I can say that silver prices were more relaxed around 2010 as far as premiums are concerned.
