GoodAsGold reacted to Allgoldcoins in 2023 Sovereign Release Date
I have asked my Mint manager for an explaination, and asked them to honour my 'previous winning bid position'.

GoodAsGold reacted to Paul in 2023 Sovereign Release Date
The plot thickens, one person has won two sets of the Matt and RM are honouring their bids. Despite their terms of 'one per household" so another of their terms and conditions broke
pi55 up and brewery come to mind
Honestly, just boycott them for everything

To make it worse, RM have said only 1 per household so have cancelled the £12K item and billed for the £15k win instead

I’m sorry but this is a bit hilarious.

Did anyone bid on these?
I heard the auction has been a PR disaster for the Mint, someone sent out an email to all bidders disclosing who was winning and who wasn't, then encouraging bidders to increase their bids.
That is not only against the principle of a silent auction its also against their own terms and conditions :
5.5 Each entry shall be final and binding once Bidders click the submit button.
5.6 Bidders acknowledge and accept that each bid submitted in the Auction is irrevocable and cannot be amended or corrected, even if submitted in error and/or notified to The Royal Mint.
Someone is for the high jump, and no idea what RM will now do with this auction?

GoodAsGold reacted to Touvex in 2022 jubilee quintuple sovereign - MS70 - rare with box and coa
Beautiful design, one to tuck away as per all jubilee coins, was easily a 3.2k+ coin, and in my opinion under valued in this market. Selling at retail plus grading fee, 2800 plus post. Full box and coa and even the original royal mint brown outer box. (Look at that amazing matte luster)

Much older years probably look towards slabbed coins

When you get a coin that size it becomes a novelty, a medallion, no longer a coin.

Wee day trip out to see CrazyDave in Blackpool, had a lucky win in the coin pusher... CrazyDave said he'd send them to America, where they'll put them in a different plastic container! That Dave, he crazy!!!

I can buy this off you? And it’s not that bad mate……
The staff and the bullion manager saw my video and he did say something but I will not quote him in public……did give me a real laugh.
The RM were keen to get this off me “for inspection “. But I would have never got it back.

Unfortunately that's the Royal mint gauntlet everyone must run. You win some and lose a lot 😆

GoodAsGold reacted to Charliemouse in Microscope photos: 1989 Proof Double Sovereign comparison
So what are the differences? Frankly, not a lot between the two grades.
Example: The PF69 has this fine line on one of the lions.
where the PR70 doesn't. But I don't believe that would make a difference. I don't think it is visible even under a loupe.
What does stand out is that the 2021 is much finer. Sure, it's 32 years newer, and the design is slightly different, but it is clearly more detailed.

GoodAsGold got a reaction from Chrisplym in 2x 2017 5 Sovereign 200th Anniversary NGC MS70
I agree. Having compared both versions side by side the reverse of the BU/DPL indeed matches the proof. The obvious difference is one obverse is proof and the other is BU.
My BU has recently achieved a MS70 DPL grading and should be on its way back to @GoldDiggerDave - a great result after his personal conservation on it.
A great coin to own for the price as the front of the slab displays a reverse as good as the proof.

So those charts use candles? 3 candles I could understand, maybe even 5. But they’re so open to misinterpretation when there’s 4.

GoodAsGold got a reaction from dicker in NGC Grading
I don’t have any Piedfort coins to grade but I would imagine that a nice chunky Piedfort might look undistinguished in a slab. I think I’d appreciate its thickness better in a capsule rather than a slab.
It would also irritate me when the NGC label states “Piefort” rather than the original “Piedfort” french translation for heavy foot, or heavy weight when it comes to coins.
Nothing to do with pies whatsoever.
