Brown was a terrible chancellor and worse PM….
”End of boom and bust” totally oblivious to the vast problems his borrowing was building up
”I saved the world” after applying a sticking plaster to a financial system under severe strain caused by his policies
Hammering those who saved for a pension
And as chancellor, his avarice for power as PM which ended in a very messy premiership
The list goes on and on.

It depends on what you are looking to buy, at which price point and your tolerance for premiums.
Some auction organisations are MUCH better than others….

I like the paper records - very cool.
I have all editions of Marsh’s “The Gold Sovereign” and Half Sovereign books. Three of them came with the original invoices from Michael, signed and dated - one with a letter thanking someone for being one of the first people to buy his first book! The signed invoices are, in some way more valuable to me than the books themselves.

Happy to take any and all opinions and thoughts on the collection that he had! I imagined as much regarding these predecimal coins and I assume he knew too, but just enjoyed the experience. As I mentioned above I'll probably keep the best one of each example and then try and fill the gaps over time as sort of a side quest in his memory while I search around and see what tickles my interest!
Currently looking at what app/program to use to catalogue them so I hopefully won't have to do the exercise twice! Any recommendations on that front are welcomed too.
I do wonder what history they have seen. Plenty has been going on while these little chaps have been going from pocket to pocket!
Once I have sorted the wheat from the chaff I'll report back!
Honestly - Excel would be best here.

It’s always a good place to buy or sell and from my experience there is significant liquidity here (buy and sell).
Prices are better (both buy and sell) but you have to price sensibly if you want a fast sale.
Quite a lot of my purchases have been from people reaching out to me or me reaching out to people on TSF - people I have traded with and trust.

Which gold

9 minutes ago, BipolarStacker said:So just out of curiosity do you think the last sov I bought is poor quality and just a question but why does it matter if I’m stacking for weight and later in my life I will be weighing them in to be melted down
cheers for the reply 👌🤝
Hi - I don’t know what you bought, just sharing that it will be a little easier to liquidate coins that are in decent condition.
All the best to you

Which gold
in Gold
Stacking for weight I get.
If you are buying the cheapest Sovs at what Chards label “Grade C” - polished, from jewellery etc you may them harder to shift when you come to sell.
Personally I don’t buy poor quality Sovs* l and I think other folk are similar.
Best

My personal advice is never to have a safe delivered to the location you are going to be using it…..for the obvious reason that someone then knows you are storing something valuable.
I don’t keep PM’s at home I use SD boxes. It’s all very well having a safe but if a couple of fellas turn up with saw offs - you will open it up.
Just my thoughts

My worry is starting because the stack is growing 💪🏻💪🏻 I bought all my coins of companies recommended on here and don’t deal with p2p purchases.
“I would not buy a sigma as I would rather spend the money on more gold.” This is were I’m at too it’s a right penny gone when more gold could be bought.
i do weigh my items as well and have scales, I watched the water method on YouTube but I’m yet to learn it.
thanks for your message about the fakes I had no idea that that’s how many of the coins are faked.
Whilst you can buy gadgets, do water tests, ping tests etc I would strongly advise that the first and most important test is via the Mk1 Eyeball. Loupe, Microscope etc against reference coins and use a load of learning that you accumulate.
Good dealers like ATS won’t screw their reputation by selling you some counterfeit tat from a Turkish melt house, but it’s always worth checking without being paranoid about fakes from main dealers
You say you don’t buy P2P - you might want to just have a look at TSF vs dealers. There are some v good dealers but equally I know several people here who have bought counterfeits from dealers you would think you might be able to trust.
-
ATS should not be a problem - I have had no problem with them.
That said, I check carefully whatever I buy.

Binlord of the week on ebay
in Gold
Posted
A few people here have posted comments about buyers being “idiots”.
Personally I am uncomfortable with this.
I created the thread to highlight sellers who are “binlords”, of which there are many.
Buyers, in many instances simply don’t know what a genuine coin is, or expect eBay to protect them.
The idiot and villain is the seller of counterfeit goods.
