I have now liquidated my silver apart from the 10 oz Koalas which do not seem popular!
Many thanks to all the members of the forum who helped me with good advice and support in this major task, whilst I was poorly.
    Kind regards to everyone.

My worst purchase ( and not an accident ) was winning a 1 kilo silver Kookaburra at a great price on eBay.
What arrived was a tiny thin silver replica about 12mm diameter weighing a gram or two.
The seller used a library picture and claims not to have known the difference.
Luckily the seller accepted it back but there were some tense moments for sure.

Very important lesson - NEVER rifle through a lady's handbag.
You got off lightly if you still have your bits intact !
I bought my wife a chunky 18ct gold chain one year.
In today's money probably worth just under 2 grand.
A few years after the event, she admitted to losing it because she handed a woollen jumper to a charity shop only to later remember the chain was inside a side pocket in the jumper. It had been insured but since she was too embarrassed to tell me for a couple of years, I thought W.T.F. and didn't claim. How could you ever prove this and what would be the impact for the following 10 years on your future insurance premiums if claimed ?

If the salary and benefits are reasonable and I can work these hours from home then please send me an application form.
I would be looking at around £500 per hour, use of private jet, private medical & dental ( for entire family ), 8 weeks paid annual holiday and final salary index linked pension plus all expenses paid attendance ( me plus spouse ) at the annual board meeting in Grand Cayman or Bermuda.
Also staff discount of 10% on all gold and platinum ( VAT free ) purchases.

Dropping a brand new 5 oz silver Libertad onto a hard edge seconds before placing it in a capsule.
The rim of the coin now shows a dent several mm in size.

Two clues - (a) the pilot of the company private jet who is a friend of a friend and flies the Beckhams everywhere.
                        (b) the business name I spotted on a postal box on a building in Grand Cayman when I last visited to audit the stack.

    Best or cheapest ?

Best has to be a silver coin that departed the mint in a capsule so definitely leaning towards an Australian Perth Mint or RAM coin or maybe a Chinese Panda.
With these coins you are going to get something to treasure and be pleased to own.
Next best probably an American Eagle or Mexican Libertad.
These are silky finish and tend to be excellent quality.
Modern Maples are pretty good as well but the earlier Maples are kind of boring looking and lots tend to have not only milk spots but milk stains.
Austrian Philharmonics look extremely shiny and most are very good quality but personally I don't like their smooth, rather than reeded, edge
Britannias - a high percentage of brand new coins will have marks, scuffs or milk spots due to mass production and lack of / or simply don't give a sh!t QC, but pre 2013 Britannias are generally admirable coins and maybe you can find one that has a memorable year of significance.
