Kookaburracollector got a reaction from Toshunya86 in Gold Coins of South America
I was looking at one of these not so long ago thinking the same! Unfortunately, the Una Libras are a higher priority at the moment...maybe once my collection of those is larger, I can move on to these!

Kookaburracollector got a reaction from Scaffstacker in Gold Coins of South America
What started out as a joke about a llama (Vicuña) with another forum member back in July 2019, has led me to start collecting one particular gold coin from South America....
The Peruvian Una Libra (One Pound) KM#207
Weight : 7.9881 gms
Fineness : 0.917
Obverse : Shield within springs with radiant sun above
Reverse : Head with headband facing right (Manco Capac)
Edge Description : Reeded
Initially, I thought I would just get the one, and managed to buy one off the forum (thanks to @Cornishfarmer) and recently had it graded.
Basically, this coin is the Peruvian equivalent of the British Sovereign...but much rarer in some cases, and way cheaper to buy😃👍!
The second Una Libra I bought (1968) came from Ebay, (for under £300!😃). A quick trip to NGC via Numi, and it comes back a great grade...MS64.
To be continued...
Looking forward to see what you all have tucked away from South America...there must be lots of interesting gold coins to be revealed!

In the 2020 stacking goals thread I wrote of my desire to add at least one each $5 and $10 Canadian gold coins minted between 1912 - 1914. These coins were among the first to really appeal to me when I got in to collecting in my late teens yet they've always felt out of reach. Today I took great pleasure in receiving and unwrapping one I had recently bought. I love everything about the design of these coins and will very much cherish this one.

From premier gold Libertads ....to something a bit humbler. A few silver rounds, inc my first Thaler restrike, and an 1882 gold Italian 20L.

Kookaburracollector got a reaction from mr1030 in Bars Photo Thread...
Pamp Silver Kilo Bar No10 arrived yesterday, many thanks to @MickD for that one.
I have decided that 10 is my limit. A bit like drinking beer 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺 ..after a long while, the law of diminishing returns kicks in and you have had enough. Plus, I value my marriage, and I’m no Croesus! 😂
Thank you to forum members @augur and @StackSellRepeat who have also contributed two great bars to my collection, and how could I not mention @JunkBond who has been a legend at finding these for me.
Having just watched an amazing flypast over my house (75th Anniversary of Mi Amigo, Sheffield) it’s a good time to say farewell to Pamp bar collecting. No doubt something new will attract my attention in the near future!
Adios, y muchas gracias.

This is the 1992-1993 silver proof commemorating the UK’s presidency of the EU. Great design. Have been trying to pick up the EU/EEC 50p commemoratives and can then complete the collection with the upcoming Brexit coin.
