    😍😍😍
I have said before that the RM could do a series of the St George and Dragon designs done by their “great engravers”.

Anyway at this stage I feel like I’m flogging a dead horse (an ironically apt metaphor!) ☝🏽😆

Indeed. It was the 2017 Sovereign that slowly started it, and the unexpected success of the 2019 Una and the Lion clinched it.
People automatically assumed almost every Royal Mint release would be as successful, which led to FOMO, sell outs, and secondary market prices going bonkers.
I expect the Petition Crown will be quite easily available at slightly above issue price on the secondary market eventually. Which will be great for buyers because their money would have earned interest in the bank by then. So that extra bit they pay a few months or years from now will have evened them out.
    That’s my thinking anyway.
I went for the 2 Oz silver and will perhaps go for the 5 Oz silver if it’s still available tomorrow. If not, oh well, an extra £1,000 for the Coronation coins.

The 5oz set looks great to me, as the edge lettering fills the space like I'd expect it to. The 2oz coins are effectively piedforts (even though there is no 1oz equivalent) and so the blank space looks a bit weird, like on the 10oz coins.
The 5oz is the winner for me in silver land.

I now view the lack of shininess as a rare minting error. I'm charging double for this unique version 🙂

I just bought myself one of these. It's the first time I've bought a non-UK coin, so comparing it to the Britannia: my first impression on opening the envelope was that it's nowhere near as shiny, and the design looks to be much flatter than the Britannia. So initially I was a bit disappointed. But it's so detailed! I can look at it for so much longer than the Britannia, and I keep picking out more detail every time. Just changing the angle slightly causes the light to pick up completely different parts of the design and makes the coin look totally different. Therefore it's grown on me very quickly, and now I'm glad I bought it, but it did need a bit of effort to get there.
Up-thread (a couple of months ago) somebody asked for photos, so here is my best effort. I'm off to read the threads about taking better photos now!

I have a couple other fractional sets from other years - maybe I’ll collect the 1/40th oz coins, drill a couple holes in them, and make them into buttons for a dress shirt.  Wouldn’t I look sharp!
    just kidding…….

I have got some information about the reverse proof sets....not so interesting
Fractional silver set . Total mintage 1550, & 350 sold by the RM, the rest sold by their trade department . RRP £165, so a mintage upped from 520 (2 coins silver set) to 2070 for the 1oz silver reverse proof 1oz with this fractional set combined
Fractional gold set . Total mintage 250 and 50 sold by the RM, the rest sold by their trade department RRP £3340 So the RP 1oz gold has a higher mintage than  the proof
I'll only buy a silver reverse proof set however

Didn't we think the same way about the quarter memorial Sovereign ? These fractional are the first reverse proof coins in the Britannia range ?

A two Oz gold reverse proof would be fab and I think I would have went for. But not fussed about squinting at a 1/40th
Going to give this a pass, but think ithe 1oz could do ok when graded and.with just 50 mintage. The RRPs now just always make it hard to see value or potential to rise in value these days

Even were I offered these, I’d only have been able to afford the silver set, and I paid as much for the 2-coin silver set which I’m happy with as I think such designs need a larger diameter to be fully appreciated anyway.
    Now I’d they’d done a 5oz silver reverse proof set, I’d be orgasming! 😍

I also got the offer from my AM in silver (350) and gold (50 fractional reverse proof set. Not reasonable decision, I decided to pass on the gold sets (only got the 2 coins silver set- PF and RP)  but I am tempted about these RP sets

For reference, here is a price guide published in 1974.
Note the premiums for the lower mintage years!
Very few of the dealers listed in the guide are still around.  Chards (R&L Coins) and Spink are the only ones that I could see still trading today!
