Lr103 got a reaction from Tn21 in 1oz Silver Eagles vs the rest, why the premium?
I personally think this has to do with the change over in design this year. Eagles tend to have a higher premium to begin with, and this year many buyers seems to be loading up on the “last year of design” and “first year of design” coins.

I’m not one of them (except for a single coin of each I purchased 🙂), and I like other coins more given the premiums. However the dealers wouldn’t charge these premiums unless the buyers were buying, so I think it’s just supply and demand.

Why on earth are the 2021 1 oz silver eagles $37 dollars, while 2021 philharmonics or britannias are $27 at that same dealer? Why is the market willing to pay up so much for an eagle vs the rest of of the group? I am a total loss to understand the pricing dynamics here, because in either case it's just a 1oz silver government minted coin, so what gives?!

It's been a minute since I've had a libertad fix. Very happy to have picked a couple of 2021 proofs up and also a 2018 reverse proof 😍

This is certainly interesting to ponder, but I do think your survey needs another option: “They’re not going to do it”, which would get my vote.
This is purely looking at it from the standpoint of those in a position to decide.

Given how indebted many governments are, it just wouldn’t be in their best interest to move away from fiat. In all all fairness, I would personally much prefer to pay a mortgage in future fiat than future gold or crypto!

I did think about that extra option, but i thought it would be interesting to see IF they re-instated the gold standard to what the good people of the forum would like to link it to. But you are absolutely right, they would never re-link it. I adjusted the question accordingly.

It has been 50 years to this day that president Nixon suspended the Gold Standard *temporarily* in the best interest of the United States and to stabilize the US dollar.
I wonder what he ment with temporarily.
And what are your thoughts on this Nixon Shock? Was it wise what he did at that moment in time? How would they even re-link the gold price to the USD after the 'temporary' suspension?

I bought a 70 of @Lr103 with similar issues. Of course he was super clear about the spotting and brilliant from the get go, so no issues from me! I bought it knowing what it was. I think we have to expect this on RM silver!
I cancelled my 1/4 order in the end and ended up getting the 2oz Britannia and a graded Vic sovereign instead for the same money…happy with what I have and will be grading the 2oz as it’s a banging good 69 at least!!
    Happy Saturday, all.
