I am truly appalled by the RM's incompetence and complete disregard for their customers.
This morning I phoned CS to to return my 4-coin set which, after 3 weeks in my hands is still not showing in my account, other than the "placeholder"  which those bought via account managers have been shown as since launch. OK she sorted it, but then asked why I still have outstanding "orders" for a 3-coin set and a full sov, still showing as "placeholders".
"Oh" she said, "I will check up on those, give me a few moments as nothing is coming up when I detail search them".
True enough, a couple of minutes later she came back "I'm afraid those haven't been minted yet and we have no information about when they will be. Feel reassured they will be sent to you as soon as they are minted" !!!
I am truly gobsmacked, she did apologise profusely but that only emphasises how bad they are, she sounded like she is no stranger to having to apologisse to disatisfied customers.
So, 4 and a half months after selling them, they still haven't minted them all. What a bunch of cowboys.

From the Chards website at the £60k quantity break
    Best value sovs - 4.55%
    Memorial sovs - 7.05%
    KC III 1oz Brits - 3.4%
150 sovs or 100 sovs + 12x1oz Brits would work well.
You could also stick the £ into an allocated gold account (locking in the gold price when it suits) and then decide what products to purchase at a later date.

I would phone them all and ask what the best 'package' they can put together for you, and also what they recommend as best value for CGT-free.

    Hello fellow members.
On the 23rd March, it will be 3 months since I joined this forum.
I have decided as a thank you to all the members who have bought from me or have done a swap with me, this is a free competition for you.
The rules are very simple and costing you nothing but a little thinking and some luck.
All you have to do is predict what the spot price of silver in $ to be 23rd March at 9pm when US Markets close. Who ever is closest in cents above or below the closing price will be the winner of the 1oz silver coin. I will be using bullionbypost.co.uk price at 9pm to get the final closing price.
To make it fair for members who post their price first, the cut off will be 9pm Friday 17th March. Any prediction after this will not be valid. Think carefully as each member will only have one chance and no editing is allowed. Your first prediction is the only valid entry.
    @SheepStacker @Mtaybar @ZRPMs @DuncanWylieWilson @AndrewSL76 @margin @Petra @JoeBlack @Faiz @Solachesis @stefffana @andrewse  @Mrpound  @ArgentSmith @gji25 @Darr3nG @Geovest @arphethean @stackerp5 @Arganto @JamesH @AndrewB @JohnA1 @Goldbeam @PapaLazarou @Domo
The coin will be posted there after to the winner who I will announce on this thread.
Anyone new  who buys anything from me up to 16th March will be allowed to enter.
    Good luck

I don't mind a rant. It's exactly what the news articles are designed to do. Forget what's going on over there and let's talk about this guy that presents the football and sells crisps.

    Hello bud.
I will try and explain how I do it. Firstly, don't buy by the weight as you don't really know what you are getting. I will use an example.
What you need is a basic understanding of Google sheets and create a little spreadsheet to help you out with multiple lots. I have a number of them for different things.
I just typed into eBay, florin then went to filters, taped on auction, then sold and this is a good example from today.
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134463943678?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=1nPNLihfRO6&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=oa7vkurwsmm&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Count up all the different dates you can make out and input them into your spreadsheet.

You can see two florins, three shillings and five sixpence that are pre 47 and one shilling at pre 20.

Now there was a coin I couldn't make out and a Florin with no silver in it so these are disregarded.
The spot price came out at £18.14 and this lot sold for....

So this is about spot plus 10% premium plus post. I would not have made a bid on this item as I regard some as junk.
    Hope this helps.

Clueless is the right word for them. 😀
Honestly I doubt the folks working there knew much, if anything, about the history of Sovereigns. There certainly were a handful of knowledgeable folks, but from conversations I had with most of them, it seemed the Sovereign was just one more type of gold coin they were producing; nothing extra special. Their marketing content is also likely to have come direct from the Royal Mint. Most of them had generic answers like “We’ll get back to you” (though most times they never did!) or “We can’t disclose this information” (which could be taken to mean “we don’t know either”). 😆
And indeed, the Indian government doesn’t permit exporting gold, so they couldn’t really be bothered with overseas anything.

The modern Indian mint ones actually look good. They look gold. Better than the horrid salmon pink ones the RM produce, which I will never buy.

Well done on the video however I don't agree with you when you rank this error above the Horse Mule.
The horse mule used the wrong pairing of dies not just a rotation of 90 degrees.
When the first Horse mules were discovered they were initially selling for around £1,000 each ( maybe twice this in the USA ) before rapidly dropping to nearer £100.
Then some German sellers started dumping them and the price came back down to Earth with a nominal premium.
Not sure current market value but pity those few early collectors that paid an enormous amount for them.
Only wish I had sold mine ( discovered months later after I opened the tube ) whilst the price was high.

Always been suspicious of the 2014 Britannia mint error coins. Being the year of the horse and making a mule coin, just struck me as a deliberate mistake, possibly...

The nature of an auction is what it is.... I'm yet to see anyone here take offence to being out bid. Everyone knows the score so if you feel inclined..... bid away and see what happens. Just don't bid past what you're happy to pay. It could be a bargain

    Hello and welcome,
I would recommend more research before deciding on what to buy as your first purchase.  While there are people that stack bars they are in the minority and coins tend to be more popular making them more liquid when you sell.  Whatever you decide though DO NOT buy a gold bar from eBay, a lot of fakes.  Stick to a dealer or one of the reputable sellers on here.  I also agree completely with what other have said regarding the security features on modern Britannia coins.
    Good luck whatever you decide

    Welcome aboard james.
Firstly, there's nothing wrong with a 10g bar, that's a very healthy start. If you are only buying because you think they are safer than coins, they are not unfortunately. Please make sure to buy from a reputable source, someone on here with good feedback and activity levels ( unfortunately carded gold is heavily faked) and can easily fool new stackers, due to it being carded and and our unwillingness to remove from packaging.
Sovereigns or 1/4oz britannias are another option and CGT free, whilst they may make you nervous now, as long as your buy from the correct sources ( your effectively buying their experience too) so there nothing to worry about, as long as you do your due diligence.
Coins also offer a learning experience, the history and you learning to measure and weigh them etc,it's all part of the fun.
Any help needed whatsoever and don't be shy to ask, there's someone on here with the answer to the question yet to be asked.

I do have 2 of them and they are typical Royal Mint bullion quality, but the Robin Hood series was popular with the British public, if you have one they sell quickly around the £100 mark!
