Been seeing a few bars posted up, so made my first purchases of these ladies, along with a bullion 2021 sov.
Think I’ve decided it’s mainly going to be coins for me though.

Picked up this amazing piece of history, my first hammered gold coin 😊


 

Ever since I stopped stacking (yawn) and went full collectard, I just can't resist anything in OMP. Even if it is 100+% over spot. YOLO.

Bought a few @Moxbars... Here's a selection of the different sizes.
The mark on this 500g looks like the adhesive off the bubble wrap packaging... Anyone any ideas to gentle clean it off? 

First sovereign purchase of 2021 and my first (random) 'antique' one (bit of a clue in the picture where it came from). I hadn't any older than 10 years before this one.

Just picked up the 1806 Napoleonic Italy proclamation at DNW today - it will go nicely with my typeset of the real coins.🙂

All set for its trip to Mars, but missed the boat, so back in to storage

These three arrived today from @SVcollector. Two nice George V Perth mint Sovereigns and my first 20 gold Franc Rooster.
I’ve had my eye on the 20 Francs for some time. Now I’m wondering if I’ve made a mistake. All day I’ve thought “Not another collection, no, no no..... hmmmm actually.... they are quite nice” 😬 🤦🏻‍♂️




 
 
 
 

A beautiful delivery on this miserable day, couple more pesos for the collection and my first Thalers & 100 peseta (quickly becoming a favourite of mine)

Another nice selection of South American silver plus a coin from Mozambique from @DuncanWylieWilson, who seems to have an endless supply of really nice coins.

It’s been a big week this week receiving the 1887 proof half and 2021 proof sovereign shown in earlier posts.
The last two coins for this week are a 1923 Melbourne sovereign and a 1909 Melbourne half sovereign.
i bought the sovereign from a Queensland based auction house. Lovely coin with a 511,129 mintage that year. 
The Melbourne half sovereign came from an eBay auction. Condition is a bit worn but it was a circulation coin. I keep a lookout for Australian half sovereigns as the mintage levels were usually low and the coins were used as money and many melted when too worn. For example the mintage for the 1909 Melbourne half sovereign was 186,094 versus over 3 million for the 1909 Melbourne full sovereign. 
 

This lovely 1914 bullion from Atkinsons, great service and only about 4% over spot.

Sovereigns are my favourite gold coin to collect and I wonder how many others have a rare or highly collectible sovereign.
I’ll start by sharing the most rare sovereign in my collection, this 1930 Melbourne mint with a mintage of just 77,588 is now difficult to find.
