So, my own return is not happening because I was very fortunate to get a replacement Quintuple from another member who has got some issues with his own set. He very kindly offered to complete my set in return for checking over his replacement when he is out of the country. 
So I can share what I know of that as and when it happens. 
What I can also say right now is that with any return the mint cannot really definitively tell anyone what the outcome will be until they get the coins back. 
If you are going to return something I would highly recommend contacting the Royal Mint customer services team and confirming that you would like a REPLACEMENT or at very least your original coin back (unless it is a pile of dog poo) Otherwise there might be a chance that you will end up with a refund in due course. 
I was told that if a coin was deemed to be way under the expected quality then they would look to remint these issues where possible - but the proof is in the pudding. 
Stand up for your returns and keep insisting the Royal Mint get it right - that way we can actually make tangible progress with the mint QC rather than just mindless barking at one another on the internet. 
Remember, if you speak to anyone at customer services or reply to emails, do so politely and respectfully - these people are there to help.

I can only imagine they will prioritise customers that have not had their original orders first then the replacements as and when they can. 
I would also not put it past the mint to be putting returns back into circulation. 
It would be very interesting to see if any of the same serial numbers get duplicated out on the forum membership. 
Maybe a new thread with the COA number of the item you return could be set up?

By the way, if anyone has received a sovereign of any size with an open capsule, please feel free to send me a picture or share here and I can forward it to the contact I have at the mint. 
It's obviously not an isolated incident and really needs attention.

I've just received 4 separate parcels from them royal mint. I was not expecting this and I can't think what they're all for?!

Its shocking that its getting worse... According to my account.. I was to receive the Sovereign and 1/2 Sov today... but got the 1/2 and the three coin set... so not only is QA poor the accounting onsite is just as bad...

You know, the more I look at this coin design the more I love it.
It really is so very elegant and special.
I'm an investor in collectables....this will be a hard one to let go one day.

I am over the moon happy now I have a stunning Quintuple!
I will do everything in my power to help you get a perfect one in due course.
If it is any consolation I had an interesting conversation with my account manager today after she rang me to sort out my own set (I had fired off an email the other day about it). She said they would always look to remint where possible to get these sets complete for people - how true that will be is in the balance but I think it is a good attitude.

The particular member in your screenshot has already had actions against their account taken as it was reported by another member, so that they are unable to send that message to anyone else. You can see from your screenshot that their messenger has been disabled. I have also gone ahead and banned them and moved them to the banned group, so be aware that they may try re-registering with a new account. If you see such suspicious messages in the future please do report them as soon as possible so we can take actions against their account to stop them from spamming members. 

Please do not email as they requested as it most likely is a scam. The person/username that they mention is not a registered member of the forum, and appears to be just a random copy and paste message that they have spammed to several members, the message you received is most likely a scam as it follows a similar style of message that has been seen in the past.
