Silverlocks got a reaction from TheShinyStuff in Liquidity on forums - 1x double sov vs. 2x sov
I've seen a few double sovereigns come up here, and they seem to be rather more of a niche item than sovereigns.  OTOH, sovereigns change hands here by the truckload and sovs that turn up here tend to go pretty quickly.  I'd like to get some sense of how folks view double sovereigns for PM stacking.  This one for those of a hoovering persuasion, or anybody in the habit of buying sovs here or on other forums:
Are you after double sovereigns - how interesting are they to you?  Are they significantly harder to sell than sovereigns (and thus less liquid)? Would you buy a double sovereign in preference to two sovereigns, or vice versa?  Under what circumstances? Why? What if someone was flogging a whole load of double sovereigns - would that be an attractive opportunity at a decent price? Feel free to pontificate or venture other opinions about sovs if they seem relevant.  Note that I'm talking about bullion sovs here, rather than special years or proof coins.

I think you should short him.  He's wearing his underwear so at least it's not a naked short.

And the last of the Q3 silver has arrived.  I also got a 1kg copper bar for ***** and giggles.  According to the vendor it's .99999 fine; not sure whether to take that with a grain of salt. Now, the emphasis in silver is off straight bullion and onto collectibles and semi-collectibles such as the dollaridoos.  I may pick up the odd tube of Brits if it happens along at the confluence of price and available cash.
It's starting to look like a stack now.  Q4 is mostly gold, as is 2023

So, most of my Q3 stuff is in - astute observers will notice that there's a missing pile of Krugerrands, and there's also a bit of numismatic stuff still en route.  Perhaps I will take another photo once all the Q3 stuff is in.  It's starting to look like a stack now, though, so -

Q4's plan is a bit more prosaic and longer on gold - a few sovs, a 1/4 oz Tudor lion and maybe a 1oz brit.  Possibly some other bits and bobs of silver in the numismatic space.

The field of the coin is the reflective part (as you know), and its angled in such a way that the reflection is of a diffuse white surface, which happens to be my light!
Some people prefer to have a small, darker area to show that the coin is reflective

How does one get that flat effect off a shiny silver coin?

Another little indulgence from Germania mint - Knights of the Past Malta.  In many ways I prefer these to Germaina's gilded and technicolour offerings.  If Malta were to mint Euros with Templars on the reverse I'd be ever so happy.

Fun fact: I had sheep's brains for dinner in Malta once and bought a bottle of prickly pear liqueur.

A further foray into numismatics - Tudor beasts lion and some of Germania Mint's offerings.

Only been stacking a couple of months and had a memory of my parents giving me a half sovereign when i was a kid, had no idea where it would be.  Been searching for it for a few days now and today i finally managed to find it in some old files... so today i kind of got a freebie and found a coin that I first looked at about 35 years ago.

I've seen most of the Bond films - including the older Sean Connery ones - but I didn't remember a single scene from Octopussy in that video.  Not one of Eon's more memorable efforts, I'm afraid.
