    .500 silver

    Or 100%
Or maybe it was made in Switzerland and balances out at .935

People will buy them. I'm sure there was a time when people asked the same about £300 sovereigns, or even £200 sovereigns.

The sovereign is still king really, it's still gold. The pound has about as much intrinsic value as a weekly grocery shopping receipt - only the numbers after the pound signs are generally smaller and worth much less.

I know it's weird, but I actually like copper spots on gold coins.

No it's not gold. 22ct silver, the rest is copper, always copper.
Except for the 'copper' coins, where it's mostly steel.

    By popular request:

Of course, we might get into trouble with the Royal Mint over the use of their Registered Trade Mark "Minty"!
I suspect they may taste ****ing horrible.

To be honest I don't recognise any of these as 'coins' in the strictest sense. I see them as bullion rounds, which purport to be something of better quality than they in fact are.
Proper gold can sell itself, lesser 'gold' products often come with a shovelful of hype. (Or silver in the case you highlight)
I often look at pocket watch chains on eBay and note the difference:
    Example A - "9ct gold Albert chain."
Example B - "SOLID 14k gold Albert chain. Suberb condition, antique, l@@k!!! Rolled gold with ten year warranty."
A is real gold and needs nothing nothing else to sell it, B is just base metal c**p with a thin sliver of gold in it.

I often think if they "HARIBO MINT" came out with a line of gummy sovereigns, they would sell extremely well!

I suspect, but it is only conjecture on my part, that some of these mid-20th century fakes weren't actually made to con collectors.
There was a great deal of demand in the Middle East for sovereigns either for store of wealth or for trade, but the earlier sovereigns were growing scarcer. So a lot of 'sovereigns' were made about right, the overall look, weight and gold content - a bit like in the East they still happily buy and sell "jewellery sovereigns" - i.e. knock offs that look a bit right, but not much. 😁
That's one of the reasons why the Gillick series came about, to address the great demand for sovereigns, but the short supply.
The Chinese Universal Numismatic Trading Society however are outright trying to fool collectors.

I suppose it depends upon when they were made and where they were made. Many were probably made in the 1950s in the Middle East.

Some recent pick ups in the last few weeks. For the junk silver stash. I'm working on getting £5 face in Vicky Young Head crowns, and £5 face in William IV.
The 1831 sixpence has probably been dipped badly at some point.
A nice surprise was the 1836 half crown, the reverse has been struck mis-aligned, it is rotated to the angle you can see. The seller never stated it as such and I guess never noticed.
