I'd imagine most of us have Royal Mint regrets and yes, I've bought far more silver proof stuff then I ever planned too

Well, on mine (just 1oz silver proof), arrived yesterday, I have what looks like an extra full-stop after the word 'Charles', and on his face he has a tiny spot/ding on his cheek. I'll probably send back.

If you look at art coins like the rest of silver, your throat will close up and you heart will stop. Bloody expensive for the silver (or gold or whatever).
Investment? Like most things, you need someone to sell to. Common silver is easy to shift, art pieces less so. I've seen the few that come onto this forum go for under their purchase price. I've got a few I bought from various mints around Europe. Fell in love with the designs. I sometimes wince over the cost even now.
And then the VAT rules changed. That made everything even more expensive. The last art coin I bought came with a hefty extra bill thanks to that.
But they're not an investment. At least I don't look at them that way. They are art pieces, and I treat them as ornaments.
Exit strategy? Sell the bullion. Bury the art with me.

I was nearly shocked by this design as IMHO the concept was excellent but the execution of it? Well, terrible. It can not have been Jody Clark (?). I know many of us feel a bit worn but isn't Britannia supposed to be inspiring? This version decidedly not.
And stupid me who began to slavishly buy RM proof Britannias since 2014! That first year excellent, and I even like the much-maligned 2017 with some of the others being up to the "meh" standard. Even more foolishly (maybe this is a bit cathartic) I started in with the more recent 1/4 oz plats but was decidedly swept away last year and had to go to the secondary market; this year, well, I don't know. Maybe if not marked up too badly.
See how addictive we (or at least me) are to this nonsense. Well, better than the crazy city view or regal history coins that bring me nearly to GI upset! Let's not even go there with the Paddington bears, etc.

I do both of these things. If you’re ultimate aim is to maximise your returns, regardless of timescale, it’s clearly the way to go.

I'm sure I'll regret not buying one in a year or so, but right now with so much stuck in pending on my credit card, i'm not caring enough to attempt again to leave another 700 quid in pending limbo. I'll buy some whiskey instead.

The truth is we all are happy to sell our identity and privacy for ease of use and a dopamine hit.
Twitter and the likes are a hell scape that I'm glad to have dropped a few years ago.
The same goes for live TV and the need for a TV licence.
I just wished I could manage without a smartphone. But seeing that bank branches and physical money are fastly becoming a thing of the past, we're screwed. 🙂
