    Seeing as silver is supposed to be a safe haven when the terrible hits the fan. Then why has it dropped like a stone during the biggest viral epidemic in nearly a century.
    Beginning to think the silver "experts" have been conning us all these years.
    If silver isn't going to go to £50 an oz during this crises, I doubt if ever will.

    Silver is a great buy and flatware/ hollowware is where some of the best deals can be had.  Sterling silver is a good buy at spot in the UK just make sure it has a hallmark on it.

    Why bother with paying a premium on 0.500 junk silver coins, when you can buy hallmarked sterling silver 0.925 flatware for less than spot on eBay.

    Off original topic , but.....if that man said any of the rude comments he makes to MPs to any member of the public, I can guarantee he would have been lumped on so many occasions, he would have had a season ticket at the local A&E.

    Question:  If you had three million ounces of gold to sell, would you sell them all at once?
    Well, this is what happened yesterday.  In the space of half an hour three separate sell orders of one million ounces of gold were places on the COMEX futures market.  It would appear this was a deliberate attempt by an individual entity to drive down the price of gold.  Yesterday, “55 million ounces of gold had exchanged hands in total in New York.  That’s equivalent to half a year’s global gold production.”

    Should we be surprised?
    The whiz kids in the City can make money when the price goes down as well as when the price goes up.
    “Short sellers” were probably struggling following the recent price increases, and so this would have been a welcome relief for them.
    Bullion Banks may also be seeing their business model coming under threat from low interest rates and high gold prices (I wrote about this on Sunday in the “Bullion Bank System” thread in the General Precious Metals section).
    So, there are lots of vested interests that may not want the price of gold to increase, so before you rush to sell your gold, reflect on what is really happening in the gold market.
    Oh yes, the Pound also had a good day against the Dollar yesterday (driving the Pound price of gold down) because Brexit is going so well!
    Does anyone have any data on yesterday's silver market?

    The GSR is a good indicator, when its low the metals are expensive and when its high the metals are cheap.
    I am sure it is possible to examine the lows and tops in metals, and compare strategies;
    1. Accumulate silver when GSR is high, swap for gold when GSR is low, hold gold.
    2. Accumulate both metals when GSR is high, sell both when GSR is low, hold cash.
    Work out who is best off at the next high in GSR.

    I need it to recover by January. Going to OZ, so I need a decent exchange rate. As i'm going to Perth, I may try and pick up a few "local" bits of silver as well.

    The problems in the Persian Gulf haven't even started yet,  if it kicks off like it did during the Iran / Iraq war in the mid 80's, then be prepared for gold to rocket as Middle eastern investors try to find a safe haven for their cash.
    Very few of you will remember what was happening in the Gulf the mid 80's, Oil Tankers were being hit left right and centre by mines and exocet missiles, from both sides. I was on a BP tanker at the time, going all the way up to Kuwait, (we were all on danger money of one weeks pay per day in the gulf), and can remember a Norwegian tanker being towed out of the Gulf with half of its accommodation block  blasted away by a missile.
    Gold rose upwards of about 15 - 20% during that period.

    I won't stop as such. At my age, I'll probably see no more than one more bear market after this one, (if that is what it is), so even if I continue to buy at the very top, I know that even if the price tumbles I can hold onto the PM's until the next bear market. You younger guys and girls, will have maybe three or four more cycles in your lifetime, so the chances are, if you hold your nerve and can hold off selling until the next cycle, then you will always make a profit.
    The only proviso I give, is that there is a possibility that in the next 40+ years technology may advance to such a level that we are able to mine other celestial bodies, (moons, asteroids etc), and if we find gold, (and it is believed that gold is actually quite common out there in the universe), the price may stagnate.

    This is just my take but gold broke through £1100 resistance like it was nothing and if you believe in technical analysis the old saying goes: Broken resistance becomes support and broken support becomes resistance. That means the base support should now be £1100 so we will probably see a bounce off this price again as a confirmation in the short term before gold in the US market takes over and targets all time highs pushing the GBP price as high as £1547 before correcting.

    Gold has dam near gone straight up since May without a visible correction, it is extremely overbought.
    Given that 2011 was blow off top of the last bull, tell me does this look healthy?;

    Seems to me that's a win win situation. The US economy is on the up, inspite of all the dire predictions, A no deal Brexit will be great for the UK too. So we get two great nations, with two great leaders, with two great economies, and just because the markets and the lefties can't quite work out how this happened, we get two great metals on the up too. Happy Days!

    Everyone should be out this weekend scouring their local antique centres for cheap gold AND silver. The dealers never get around to all their cabinets to change prices. Oh and keep an eye out for sovereign scales for me as well
