Well… the mint has a lot to live up to for this one (again!), interesting to see the finished articles and then the comments 😮🤔

Imagine the price tag on these if they release them as a 2-coin set like the Petition Crown.

Gold 2oz set easily £12,000+

Silver 2oz set around £500, 5oz set around £1,200, 10oz set £2,400.

Craziness in this economy.

2 coin sets are a disaster, the cost you mention  and the additional stress of getting 2 good coins.

What’s the purpose of doing this as a 2-coin set instead of a medal, other than to milk the design dry? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Do you think they need any other reason?

Dollars to donuts there has been a meeting somewhere that somebody suggested that they should 'monetize' their 'intellectual property.'

The Sovereign is the quintessentially British coin.  It has a German queen on the front, an Italian waiter on the back, and half of them were made in Australia.

The petition crown twin set was a pretty much all and out flop

I ordered the 5oz as that was all I could afford at the time - look how that went!

Made far worse by the Mint radio silence 6 months into waiting for it to arrive.

A shame, as I really love the petition crown.

I am 100% sure the cost was a contributing factor.

It put most people off.

I like the idea of the 2-coin box presentation; but the upfront cost is definitely a negative for me.

For sure… This sets a precedent of so many more medals they could do as 2-coin sets now. Not impressed!

Don't see too many of the petition crown sets up for sale. How are their prices holding up compared to RRP?
