There’s A Sleeper On The RM Site….

Recommended Posts

Hi All 👋

So here’s a little fun. IMHO there’s a sleeper on the Royal Mint website, that you may have already noticed or perhaps not noticed. Perhaps even already purchased. However I have a feeling that this had been overlooked by many.

In case you’re not familiar with the terminology, a “sleeper” is a term used when describing a product that people haven’t noticed and will potentially miss, mostly because it has been misdescribed and therefore under it’s true value. It’s used a lot in the antique trade and especially auctions.

Although the item in question hasn’t been misdescribed (Based purely on the spot price), I TRULY feel that once off the site, the value will increase by 50%-100%. There is a precedence already set by another similar series.

Any guesses?

Una and the lion kilo gold comes up in a keyword search and for £63,380 seems like a decent shout...

If it was purchasable though. When you click on the link its just a blank screen.

Well, I am stumped.

Searched high and low and cannot find anything in stock and orderable that is from a series that has done well that could conceivebly be a sleeper.

It’s gold but not saying more than that for the time being. However judging by the responses so far no one has considered it 🤷‍♂️

You wouldn’t need to pay anywhere near that 😉

Ok here you go, but before you press the link, please read my reasons behind why I think this will be a very good future investment. If you don’t agree for whatever reason that’s fine. Just thought I’d share and have a bit of fun on a Sunday afternoon.

https://www.royalmint.com/invest/bullion/bullion-bars/gold-bars/kaaba-20g-gold-bullion-minted-bar/

1 - The Royal Mint have made not one, but two short YouTube videos about this.

2 - There is also an article on the Royal Mint with the history of the Kaa’ba. So they’re putting their weight behind it.

3 - It has been on the site for circa a year. So quite possibly going to get removed soon.

4 - There are circa 2.25 Billion Muslims in the world and gold is always an attraction and part of their history.

5 - There are two major religious festivals (Eid) every year for Muslims. With millions being spent on presents. Every year looking for something different.

6 - Combine that with the most sacred of monuments in Islamic history, then surely it’s a winner

7 - A precident was set a few years back by the Pamp Suisse with their faith series. It’s now selling for circa double the original price and the Ka’aba was one of the releases.

8 - I personally don’t feel the premium is too bad for a 20g solid gold bar.

Like I said above if you disagree no problem you don’t need to buy one. However it’s worth a consideration 🤔🤔🤔

The back in stock page has this under bullion, not exactly a sleeper

Yes it is bullion and only probably back in stock because they know Eid is coming up. Will they continue that 🤷‍♂️

Hmm, was expecting something more exciting. I get your reasoning but this is a hard pass from me.

My opinion, worth 2% over spot on the 2nd hand market.

Take a look at the Pamp Suisse faith series selling prices on eBay. That was also one of my reasons. That’s also the point. People are looking for something “more exciting” as you put it and are completely overlooking this. Just my two pence 👍
