Hey mate, these are the presentation numbers. I’ve posted the max coin mintages above. They are slightly higher is some cases. The actual may be different than all of the above. 🙂

The real number I’m concerned with is my place in the queue.  At 1am (California) time I’m always hoping for a low number for an easy in and out and back to bed.

Probably not Monday as that's the day the final star wars 50p is being released.

Certain;y not Monday, the issue is still a couple of weeks away, the Mint has not yet issued its embargo to dealers giving prices and mintages etc.

i'm still on the fence with it - couldn't justify going five figures in debt for the Petition crown set in gold.

It looks like it may have been the correct choice given it didn't sell out

I'm just not sure if the ship has now sailed with the GE series and given this new release just a rehash of something pretty common, its got more cons than pros to me at present - i don't know, what to do for the best :(

The petition crown was a weird release because on the secondary market you know nobody's buying those big golds unless they are pr70 however slabbing it defeats the actual point of the coin and the very cool mint presentation box.

I do think the great engravers is done from a flipping/profit side which some may see as a good thing that they will go to true collectors. However the flip side is will true collectors want a reproduction of something they can actually get?

Una and the lion was unobtainable unless your pronouns were sheik/your highness so a reproduction made sense however as we get in to coins like gothic crown etc. If you can afford the big gold ones you can afford an original so it removes that raison d'etre.

Are dealers allowed to divulge WHEN the embargo is issued? Or is that also off limits?

Yeah I totally haven’t got the point of grading this set especially given the holders hide the edge, which is where the whole appeal lies.

You may get a 70 but you’ll never truly appreciate the craft.

I was privileged to see the 2oz gold in real life and it is admittedly a lovely set.

Indeed the best coins in this release will eventually be the ones whose originals are unattainable. Looking back, some of the “duds” could well become the key coins in the series.

IMO it really comes down to mintages at this point. I’m eagerly waiting to see the mintages for this next one as it is a popular design and the RM could well be tempted not to lower mintages because they will likely sell anyway.

I believe that NGC made special slabs to show the edge. This is at least true for the 2oz silver.

I love the relief edge lettering on £2 sovereigns of old, this is what the RM needs to do with 5 coin sets to give them exclusivity.

RM dealers are given a data sheet of any new coin due out, that gives embargo dates for the information and when the coin will / can be sold, sometimes they are the same date. On some issues you get information or the chance to register your interest in advance, and others just appear for sale out of the blue, on the great engravers RM have announced the coin prior to sending any information to their dealers.

So at this time there is nothing to embargo, all the information known is in the public domain .

Hmm, but we know dealers get embargoes - that’s not really a secret is it? 🤔

Does this mean the Petition Crown is probably the lowest mintage in the series then?
