  1. It's not clear to me who won this. A bit of after timing going on there, surely.
  2. I've read further on the FAQ page of this issue, and it's clear that the privy mark only applies to the 2023 definitive issue.
  3. I see the RM website states that "Each reverse design also features an intricate pattern based on His Majesty’s cypher, created especially for these coins – as well as a privy mark that is exclusive to this set." Does that mean ordinary 2023 definitive coins with this new design won't have the special privy mark, or that in future years there won't be one?
  4. I cannot agree with the common folklore that E Bay is just one big scam by buyers intent on gaming the house rules. I know it suits this forum to believe that only the TSF is a squeaky clean marketplace, but if I look back hard, I wouldn't be surprised to find a few chancers on here in the past. This year, I have made 370 coin sales, admittedly most of low value but not all, and received just one negative feedback from someone who claimed never to have received the coins in question, worth £10. Most, actually the 99.5% of my buyers are genuine and honest, going by my feedback. Just saying... In this case, I wonder how many positive feedback ratings did your scamming buyer have? And did you send to a genuine postal address or a business industrial estate or PO Box, by any chance?
  5. Surprised there hasn't been any more mention of this error coin, or examples showing up for sale here or on E Bay.
  6. Err, I thought this was a 22.2mm coin, WIDER than the norm.
  7. I've bought quite a few gold and silver coins from forum members this year, through my bank, Santander, and had no problems at all so far. I am careful to reply to their pages of anti-scam warnings that I am buying from someone I have seen, that I initiated, that it's a payment for "other goods" (other than jewellery, luxury goods etc) and for a transaction reference I say something like "TSF - sov". Seems to work so far.
  8. I've just come across your platform, thanks to the TSF Forum. Two questions. In what way do TSF members benefit financially from bidding successfully, or selling? Frequency of auctions, and next one up?
  9. Could I please see photos of the reverse side of the 1918-Is?
  10. Is this non-alignment of the obverse image with the reverse, inside a slabbed sovereign example, considered a fault that detracts from its value and collector appeal, or a sought-after error? https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/6330660-004/64/
  11. I'm new to the grading side of coin collecting. I haven't yet sent any of my sovereigns for grading but I can see a growing interest and demand for slabbed sovereigns on public market places. My question is, where is the line drawn for genuine collectors of Gillick sovereigns for the acceptable MS grade? 64? 63? Or does it just come down to the price point for each grade being deemed to be "good value"? And will the higher grades appreciate at a faster clip in the long run (assuming a rising POG) than the lower grades?
  12. I have had very little poor experience on E Bay as a seller so far. Mind you, with a few high priced exceptions, if I was scammed it wouldn't be the end of the world. But in your case, Midas, I really feel for you as you definitely belong to the "good" part of the general population. What have I learned from this whole episode, as I still believe the great majority of E Bay buyers are genuine sorts? First, to tighten up on my item description to make it less likely that I might lose an arbitration case. Never accept a buyer using a shop delivery address, and state that. Or outside the UK mainland and N.I. Cancel a sale with a buyer with less than x positive feedbacks, x being around 50 minimum, or with 90% or less positives, or probably with a short time history as a member, like a few months? Plenty of high quality pictures. Special delivery. What else? P.s. @Midasfrog, hope to do business with you sometime soon, on here.
  13. RM is as guilty as any British company of milking the "general inflation" trend. Raising prices steeply even in the face of a stagnant underlying bullion price is short term profit maximisation, pure and simple. This general corporate attitude to pricing makes me sick. It remains to be seen if the marketing clowns at RM "get" the damage they have inflicted on the serious collector market long term by their pricing and issue policies recently. It's going to take quite a while for recent proof sovereigns to clear their RRPs. Surely there are easier ways to make money in the numismatic market, even at today's price levels.
  14. Anyone know when the 2023 Coronation bullion sovereign is likely to go out of production?
  15. OK. So not a bad price after all. In fact, could be a real bargain in a few years' time.
  16. Only 6% on the hammer price? Really?
  17. Just one needed, in unblemished condition, for my great-niece's christening this weekend. I'll be out of the doghouse if someone can commit to sending one to arrive in the Peterborough area by Saturday post at the very latest. Thank you, Divmad Must be dated 2022, NOT 2023.
  18. Don't think that this BBP exclusive 1/4oz coin is proof.
  19. Looking to buy up to 9, at the right price.
