This is an auction that will end on Saturday night at 7pm. Any bids that come in after 7pm are invalid (so 18:59:59 is the latest), but please do feel free to make donations beyond this time if you feel so inclined.

Monsmoy (Nick) was known to us. He was one of us. A collector. A stacker. Someone who saw the beauty in details. Someone who was careful, yet also able to easily trust and throw himself into something if he believed in it. He died too young. He wasn’t even 50.

I am proud to say that I knew Nick. I knew him because of a shared love of investing in bullion and collecting coins. 

He was a retired army major. He was most recently a fire fighter. He was just a perfect gentleman.

The coin offered for auction is detailed below. It is not perfect and has handling marks and some details that would mean it would not grade well. It is however the last coin that Nick and I agreed to deal on. Whilst we never completed the deal, it will always be his coin and so I feel compelled to sell it in his name and give the entire amount raised to two charities: Hounds for Heroes and The Firefighter’s Charity. I intend to split the total amount raised equally between the two charities.

Slowly realising that this community is so fantastic but that this also means we may hit threshold early and I would like to raise as much as possible……not sure what to do, so will throw in a 1/10 bullion krug.

I felt pleased with myself recently as I found it in a ebay pawn shop and it only cost me £179.00 delivered. 

On reflection, it is a quite beautiful little dirty coin and whilst it perfectly falls into place in my stack, it also proves to be a perfect ‘extra’ to draw this out a bit longer.
