NGC Quality Issues (we think).

Recommended Posts

I am looking to send quite a big batch of coins away for grading, probably in the next few weeks.

I normally send to NGC but this has clearly put me off. Has this been raised with them?  Has anyone seen a response ?

This clearly looks like a big, business affecting issue.

I am not a member of PGCS does anyone have any UK agents they can recommend?

The Coin Cabinet take PCGS submissions.

They don’t seem to advertise it particularly well but I’ve had coins graded with PCGS through them.

Just look at these photos.

“Burn marks” are appearing after NGC grading. Fine coins until they were sent away!

Any examples you would like to share? The below photos were from a Facebook group, not my coins.

I’m just raising this issue for other potential graders to be aware. NGC and/or Royal Mint are not taking responsibility for this!! Yet!

Who would buy a PF70 with this mark on it???

What next? - Charred Coins?

I have now seen my very own Chard charred coin:

Anybody know whether NGC have a "cure" or "fix" for this?

Very sad 😔

Did you send it direct to NGC in America for grading or a third party, or did you buy it already in that condition?

I’m not sending them anything more (Silver) until this stops.

Sorry for your loss but how can this be classed as a PF70 now 🤷‍♂️ to me it’s not even worth as much as a PF69. It’s been ruined.

Might want to experiment on it yourself?? Maybe an acetone dip??? Unchartered territory I’m afraid my friend 😞

Maybe we should ask for it to be relabelled as FP70?

FireProof!

It is slightly frustrating, but I am feeling quite relaxed about it. Worse things happen in life!
