Up to you to check

So are you saying you cannot distantly buy unless you attend to inspect the goods?

Even then, do you have to check the coin for metal alloy? Do you have to take a XRF analyser with you or will they let you acid test it?

All of this is plainly absurd, surely they have to take responsibilty for making sure PM coins are genuinely PM?

Is asking for a condition report classed as "inspecting the goods"? Are they liable for the accuracy of a condition report?

Do they really want 50 people asking for a condition report of the type "Is this real gold, is it a genuine sovereign?"

Thanks for that @ilovesilverireallydo cost to me is £140 Inc delivery so going to get it sent, I then have a bargain or a very expensive 20th 🤣

Ah, so it was a 1/10th that was actually a 1/5th! That was it, thanks @ilovesilverireallydo.

So @Dakaras, we don"t have a precedent, sorry. It's still possible I guess but without proof or precedent I'd probably refuse it. £140 for a 1/20th is not cool, unless you really like the  coin!

I would phone them and ask them to check how thick it is.  I am sure they will do it for you as you are the buyer.

Of course they may be a bit busy as they are running auctions for the rest of the week

Online you ask for a condition report, any concerns you mention, then you have a comeback

Typical c**p quality photos.

Even so, it looks like a fake.

Auction houses like this should not be in business.

I sent them the followiing e-mail:

Dear sirs,

Despite the poor quality photos, this appears to be an obvious counterfeit.

Is there any reason you did not state this in the description?

Can someone explain about the Horse Head and Riders Face. Or is it me. Don't forget I'm only a amateur.

Cheers.

If we are still discussing sovereigns, the "rider" is St. George.

Best to look at plenty of online photos of gold sovereigns, then compare. Looking at thousands of actual sovereigns is evan better, of course.

Some amateurs know far more than some professionals.
