Free Beer - Win a Pint

Way back in 1998, when I launched Chards first website 24carat.co.uk, we decided to offer a pint to anyone who spotted what we jokingly called our deliberate errors (a slight oxymoron).

The first half dozen pages were checked, double checked and triple checked for errors, and the site grew to upwards of 20,000 pages, and a similar number of photos.

To encourage readers to tell us when they spotted something amiss, we were happy to award a free pint.

This had to be collected in person, either at our showroom, a coin fair, or if the winner spotted me in a bar.

For some strange reason, not many were awarded, and fewer still collected. I am sure we still owe a few.

Now, 23 years later, I have decided it is time to reinstate the offer, although I expect it will cost us more than originally.

There are no very hard and fast rules, although it does need to be a factual error, not just a simple typo. Only one prize per error.

No purchase necessary, age restrictions apply for legal reasons, winner collects as before.

This is intended mainly for fun, but we also get free proof-reading out of it. (Nothing is ever completely free).

Anyone under-age or teetotal may be offered a bag of chocolate coins or some other substitute prize.

How can we afford to offer such generous awards? Simple, we're going to deduct the cost from any Marketing Team bonus! 😎

I'll drink to that!

We will even lay in a small stock of bottles or cans for personal take-away collection.

Any suggestions for preferred brands welcome (but not necessarily available), mainly for fun.

Actually, it's a combination of some of our software / systems updates, old and new specification tables, our Warehouse Team, and Marketing.
