Kookaburra Inventory - Does anyone have a complete list?

Hi All,

I am trying to locate an absolutely definitive inventory of all 1oz Kookaburra's - both Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated.

After buying a beautiful set from my good friend and one of the nicest collectors I have met (@Lucylucy), I am compelled to collect all 1oz Kooks.

In trying to do so, I realised that I did not appreciate that there were ones that I had not even come across previously - which is fantastic for someone who enjoys collecting.

My question to the forum is......

Does anyone have a definitive list?

If not I am going to compile and check with TSF members and the Perth mint.  Any info Kook collectors have would be appreciated.  

I will of course share a complete and verified Excel list with the forum when I get this in good shape.

Note: I might be over complicating it, but I think the inventory sources I have seen don't show coins I know to exist.

Indeed….  I now have all of the Kooks from 1990 onwards which is good plus a good number Of Privy’s

However there are a great deal of Privy Mark Kooks, which I want to collect.

I dont know exactly how many variations there are of 1oz kooks, but I'm pretty sure it will be an unholy amount. Good luck @dicker, look forward to seeing this take shape.

Thanks all.  Probably the most important part is getting a solid inventory / taxonomy defined.  The Perth Mint is fantastic and always answer my mails so  I will submit a defined list and see if they think I am missing items.  Certainly their inventory misses items.

I have to admit I got carried away collecting one ounce Kookaburras and ended up with 4 full sets plus the P20 set.
I then made the error ( not a bad error - but should have gone to specsavers ! ) of buying two wooden Kook boxes from Meinemuenzbox in Germany.
Terrific boxes indeed BUT they are enormous !!

I then started looking out for the 2 oz Kooks and succeeded in getting most from fellow forum members but I am missing the 2006 and 2008 to complete the date run.

@Pete I think the Perth Mint went wild with the Privy’s and their derivatives.  

There are many collectibles and I hope to get them all….. If I can find out what “all” iS.

Yes - some mints would have a privy release just for a coin fair or maybe a commission for a high society sporting event where they could be gifted to VIPs.

I think the categorisation is missing “P20”, so doesn’t come up in a search a - easy thing to miss.

That's just what I was wondering!

@dicker Not much help to you now pal, but there was & I stress was a fantastic Aussie website that had every variation of the Kooks all sizes in gold, silver & platinum, Bu & proof individual coins, privies, sets etc etc. Unfortunately it went offline 6 or 7 years ago. I tried at the time to track it down & see if anyone had taken the resource over but had no joy.

Good old Wiki seems to have quite a compprehensive list, but I'm guessing you've seen that.

I have been a bit busy at work but there is a very large number of Privy’s, Coloured, Coin Show specials.  
 

It will take some time to catalog all of those that I can find…

I suspect there will Privy’s that are probably not known - perhaps for Perth Mint Staff or promotional items.

@dicker @Kookaburracollector is the man you need (if he's still around, if not search his posts for much info on Kooks)

I have (I think) 1oz bullion 2016 - 2018 Panda privy (Chinese Expo - mintage I believe 8000 - ?) and lunar privies 2016, 2017, 2019 to spare, at the fair going rate.

I also have the complete P20 set as issued (with all original boxing, metal case, display trays, CoA, etc) which I'm happy to take an offer on

Chards did have the same set on display in the shop for quite a while so not sure what has happened there (?).

On the 1oz privy front, I can probably help…as I spent a happy year or two collecting them. I never found a definitive list of all of them, either on the Perth Mint website or anywhere else…and I did look…really hard!

I do also have a few of the F15 privy 1oz kooks, although not the last two years…I refuse to pay £100+ for one oz of silver! I also never went for the coloured varieties or the lunar. There are also the gilded kooks to consider.

I had a set from 1991-2019 of gilded Kookaburras. Some of them were private versions, especially the latest ones. never seen the first (1990) in gilded.

I know that some were official versions with box and certificate. But not sure if they are the only ones.
