Any ideas about this one - n 1857.

To me, it looks as if the 5 may be over something else? Also it looks like an 8 over 8?

correction sydney mint not 1846 just old mans problem its called confusion or trying to do to much wrong way round but 1846 coin very crisp details other coin overstamped ☹️

I think you are saying the photos above come from a 1875 Sydney struck sovereign?

Dies were prepaired in London and shipped to Australia at this time. The coin shown above is almost certainly a result of a striking error rather than a die error.

So what do people think of this 1887 Jubilee head sovereign with this rather strange die flaw on the head.  Apart from that it is in very good condition. Would that effect the grade as it came from the mint like that

The small die errors add no value I'm afraid.

That does appear to be the large 0 version (not the O for 0) which is quite common.  Check the O in Victoria as I believe there is a variant where there is an O over C which can be hard to spot, I still need one of those.
